What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. This is my second time to this restaurant in Kampung Baru. This time, they have renovated this large restaurant which is now (10 Jan 2022) very clean, bright and spacious. The main attraction is of course their fantastic Nasi Lemak. A National dish of Malaysia. You can pick and choose your addition fried chicken, beef or squid to go with the coconut steam rice (Nasi Lemak) and their signature sweet chilli sauce which is popularly known as sambal. I rate this Nasi Lemak as one of the best in Kuala Lumpur. While you are there, don’t forget to try their fresh juice beverage. I had a tall mango blend topped with a generous serving of fresh mango cubes! Great to finish off my delicious dinner. This Wanjo restaurant is highly recommended!

  2. Food is good, tasty. 13Rm for the big tomato chicken and beef rendang plate and 16Rm for the fried chicken and sotong. Drink is cheap just 2RM for TehO-Ice. A lot of table and clean place for eating. I think the price of food is OK
Worth to wait for long queue. Tourist should give a shot

  3. Locals love it, tourists come to it, and it’s included in nearly every food tour.

This is where you eat Nasi Lemak.

The Sambal squid is amazing, and the beef Rendang is the best I’ve ever had.

I came here 3 times for my 7-week stay in KL and wish I went more times.

Today I went to this infamous Nasi Lemak Wanjo at Kg. Baru KL and here’s the review

At first obvi I got the information about this restaurant through TikTok and most of the reviews said it is not good. So i went there with low expectations.

The restaurant is comfortable and quite busy but I don’t mind because the service was so smooth, the restaurant is clean, the toilet too and free filtered water! although the baby chair looks really sad.

For the food, it was good I give it a 6/10. Ofc the review on TikTok saying the sambal was too sweet. Yeah it is true but please look at different perspectives.. it is a tourist spot so they need to cater to them too. For me i really enjoy the Nasi Lemak and for others who said this Nasi Lemak not good you have a problem. Their Rendang is delicious. I could give a higher score if my fried chicken and Sambal Ayam do not taste burnt and less salty.

The price:- 4pax RM 47 = $10+ so freaking cheap

It’s a good spot for tourists to taste nasi lemak and not turning red hot.

Overall I rate this restaurant 8/10 would come here again

P/s you need to request extra Sambal amd Rice because it is such a small portion 😂

  5. Long queue before can reach the counter. However the service is fast. The rice is nice and creamy: Sambal is on sweeter side. Very focused menu serving only Nasi Lemak with fewer side dishes spread.

Definitely this is a better Nasi Lemak compared to other popular brands and the price is cheaper compare to others brands.

The flip side is that you are forced to be seated at aircond area due to space scarcity and charged RM1.00 per person.

Worse still these one Chinese convert Muslim who is manning that area forced us to leave the moment we finished eating as he wanted to clean the table. Charged RM1.00 per person and was asked to leave. I voiced my displeasure to that guy before leaving as I saw other tables of people seated with empty plates and glasses.

Variety of dishes here. All very tasty and simply tasted like home cook meals. The sambal hijau and sambal lado was awesome. The ikan bakar was fresh and very good. Price was reasonable with so much of everything on your plate. Good and friendly staff service.

This restaurant offers a really wide variety of savoury malay taste… and the price is stated on each menu so you can budget to your likings… the drawback is that its really crowded during weekends and you have to wait to be seated as the same with other popular places that is well named with good taste… there’s ample parking inside the gateway, its easily missed tho…

Come during lunch hour so it was packed with people. And we’re lucky enough to get a table the moment we entered the restaurant. There’s a lot of dishes to choose from and you might ended up spending a few minutes thinking which one to pick. Overall food and service was great.

They function like a Chinese economy rice place, except the food they serve are Malay and in here, my mother is not green, only their sambal 👌🏼👌🏼 A good variety of dishes are available here. Masak merah, masak kicap, kunyit; lamb, chicken, beef, seafood. Crazy how many dishes they have! I’m not very adventurous, went for the ayam goreng and some leftover rempah bits from the sold out ayam rempah. With a drink, my meal came up to RM 12 if i remember correctly. But my other friends who took much more, their bill came up to RM 20+ 😵‍💫 quite expensive. Anyway, food is good. Looks like plenty of people come here on weekdays.

It was a really good place with delicious food. The variety was eye-opening! The ikan bakar was amazing, I love the sauces (sambal belacan, budu, tempoyak, sambal hijau, sambal merah), the seafood is fresh. Prices slightly high, but worth it. Best to go early, as many people come

The sotong was chewy & dry, and the rice was undercooked & hard. The rayfish was ok I guess… I’ve had better at other hawker stalls. We also took the side dishes of fried eggs, beansprouts and sambal potato wedges. The potato wedges were good. Others… nothing to shout about. There are 3 stalls/ shacks next to each other. This one was the 1st shack coming in from the main road. Next time will try the middle one. Seemed to have more people eating there.

First time try the food here for lunch. Quite hot but bearable. We ordered Siakap Bakar, ulam and sotong bakar. The Sambal Belacan and Kuah asam were very good. As for the price, it is slightly on the high side though. After lunch, can also eat the cempedak goreng and banana fritters (too oily).

My fav place at Jalan Bellamy. It is at the corner so ventilation is much better. Bigger dining area and u can eat at a fairly comfy distance frm the grill area. The heat and smoke are more manageable. Sotong plus ikan pari is my fav pair

Tried fish only. Had a craving for seafood and it was fulfilled. It was pretty crowded. Prolly next will try the squid and other seafood. First time coming here. Many similar shops around the area too

Stopped into the Jalan Bellemy area to try ikan bakar. Got the tilapia and stingray, both dipped into spicy sambal and grilled until blackened. The stingray was the real hit, super tender and meaty, definitely one you must try! Check out our channel for a full review of our experience: Hungry Two Travel.
