What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Great beach on the coast of Galveston. Sand is good, great water, and great atmosphere and views, also right by the pier. Worth checking out.
Their is some rentals for chairs and umbrellas but I highly recommend bringing your own.

  2. I recently visited Galveston Island Beach in TX and it was an ideal spot to enjoy the ocean and the sand. The waves were consistently rolling in, providing a perfect backdrop for relaxation. However, for families with small kids, the waves might be slightly stronger, so caution is advised. The best part is that the water slopes slowly, allowing you to venture further in without sudden drops. Overall, it’s a wonderful destination for beach lovers seeking a serene and enjoyable experience.

  3. Great weekend getaway with your family, friends, or SO! Get there early to find parking along the wall, or you may have to find a lot and walk. Restaurants are everywhere with great seafood, and there are plenty of hotels, airbnbs, and condos ti choose from in all price ranges. Downtown is very historical and beautiful! There are also entertainment attractions and plays ti watch. Visit the cemetery, the old battleship, and go shopping! There are plenty of bars and night entertainment, as well. I go a couple of times each year. A great time ti also go is in December! It is decorated beautifully, and the Christmas boutiques are so cute!

  4. So let’s just say few things. The strip is the best part of the beach 10/10 the strip now the beach is cool as far as sand very little trash or debris they have so many lifeguards I mean so many. They had a lot of restrooms on the side walk and showers but they shut off to early also parking can be free certain times and days do check before going. Now the bad they allow dogs on the beach. The water super dark muddy color it’s bad I went waist deep and when I came out not only was I itching but some type of sludge was on my leg and foot that was impossible to remove with even soap and water!!!! The beach allow coolers and ppl even bbq on the beach. I loved that part. But the water 🥴the pier cost money just to enter and then for rides so we looked from a distance. The beach has a lot flag info so it was safe

  5. Nice, clean beach. There’s plenty of trash cans along the beach, and life guard stations each block or so. Early Sunday morning was not busy or crowded at all. I had a lovely, relaxing morning!

Sunbathing Safely: Healthy Tips for Enjoying the Sun Responsibly

Sunbathing can be enjoyable and provide some health benefits, but it’s essential to do it safely to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Here are some healthy tips for sunbathing:

  1. Use sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of at least 30 before going out in the sun. Reapply every two hours or more frequently if you’re swimming or sweating.
  2. Choose the right time: Avoid sunbathing during peak hours when the sun’s rays are strongest, typically between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Instead, aim for early morning or late afternoon when the sun is less intense.
  3. Seek shade: Take breaks from direct sunlight by spending some time in the shade. This will help reduce your overall UV exposure and give your skin a chance to cool down.
  4. Stay hydrated: Sunbathing can cause dehydration, so make sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after your sunbathing session.
  5. Wear protective clothing: Consider wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that covers your skin. This can provide an extra layer of protection against the sun’s rays.
  6. Protect your eyes: Wear sunglasses with UV protection to shield your eyes from harmful UV rays.
  7. Gradual exposure: If you’re not used to being in the sun for extended periods, start with short exposure times and gradually increase over several days to allow your skin to acclimate.
  8. Don’t forget your lips: Apply a lip balm with SPF to protect your lips from sunburn.
  9. Avoid tanning beds: Artificial tanning devices can also emit harmful UV rays, which can increase the risk of skin cancer and premature aging.
  10. Know your skin type: People with fair skin are more susceptible to sunburn, so take extra precautions if you have fair or sensitive skin.
  11. Listen to your body: If you start to feel overheated, dizzy, or unwell, it’s time to get out of the sun and cool down.
  12. Post-sun care: After sunbathing, soothe your skin with aloe vera gel or an after-sun lotion to moisturize and help alleviate any redness or irritation.

Remember, it’s possible to get the benefits of sunlight while minimizing the risks of overexposure. Being responsible and taking precautions will allow you to enjoy the sun safely and maintain healthy skin.

This is our favorite and go-to place in Galveston!!! The rental options, cantina, beach delivery, showers/restrooms, and services just make it stand out. Even on a busy day, it is great.

Surprised by how getting here early even on a weekend had plenty of space before the sun gets too high in the sky! Great place to beat the heat.

Nice location with sandy beaches. It seemed like there were a lot of people there but it was my first time going! Had an awesome time swimming with my dog !

We really enjoyed our time at this beach! It was off the beaten path, not too crowded, and beautiful. The availability of bathrooms, rental chairs/umbrellas, and beverages was nice. This will be our go to spot in Galveston now!!

My family’s go-to spot! This side of the beach gets filled pretty quickly, but it’s so peaceful. It’s always nice coming here when we get a chance.

Parked right on the beach (there were a lot of cars side by side but there was always plenty of parking spots and beach space). Set up our stuff right by our car. Plenty of trash cans and porta potties. Really clean beach. Not far from main areas of Galveston.

Update: One year later, still an awesome and clean beach. Got there at about 1:40pm on a Wednesday (June 14, 2023). There were a lot of vehicles but we still saw several spaces right by the water. Set up our blue beach tent and never once felt crowded.

Not the most beautiful beach, but we love it here.

Because it’s so convenient to be able to drive and park on the beach. So bring your tent, cooler, drinks, chairs, grill, foods, water sports equipments…everything, and it’s free.

It wasn’t crowded, we had so much fun. It was so relaxing.

It’s summer time and starting to be crowded. I just wish people would be more considerate. We are trying to sit and enjoy the view, but people just come and stand right in getting off you, blocking it. Even putting up chairs and umbrellas… Right in getting off your spot. Just have more consideration for the others. Don’t come late and just jump in front of everyone. At one point a stranger was walking up beside/between the vehicles while we were in the water. He was looking inside our vehicles. Be cautious. Be kind. Be considerate.
