Negative stars for the lady in charge of making appointments … When I Had to get a replacement health card, making the appointment on the phone was real joy… The “lady” was not pleasant at all! But when I got in to pick up my replacement card the gentleman that took care of me was absolutely amazing and very friendly.

Absolutely disgusted by the 2 workers in service Ontario today in Chatham. I went in after having major foot surgery. I got a ride to the doctors to pick up paperwork for a handicapped temporary pass. The first worker refused to accept the paperwork because the doctor forgot to write my name on both pages eevn thought it was the same document. I wrote my name down and got back in line. The second worker let would not accept it because we didn’t go back to the doctor to have mu name written on top of a paper that was all clearly filledout by the doctors office. My ride drove me back across town. The doctors office was furious that they sent someone (in my condition) for something so ridiculous when it was clear the whole document was completed by the doctor. At no time was I offered a place to sit and my place in line would be held. There is no handicap door open button at this location which makes it extremely difficult for anyone with any sort of disability to access the location.

Very satisfied with their service. I’ve been there twice. Ladies working there are very nice and helpful. Even if they didn’t pick up the phone to make an appointment, they replied right away to my email.

I would give this multiple negative stars if I could. This is the most inefficient, slow, disorganized location of service ontario, other than the location on Wellington St. in Chatham. Both places seem to have lazy, untrained and unknowing employees. Both locations spend their time making people wait while they seemingly do nothing. The location on Grand goes out of their way to tell people at the door that they are booked solid and unless that person has an appointment there is nothing they can do for them. Meanwhile inside there is only one person who is actually working the counter and that person does not listen, nor is helpful to the customer she is serving in any way. I went in there with an appointment, waited almost 40 min after my appointment time listening to her tell the people she was serving that she could not help them. Then she finally said to them that if they could come back with such and such that she could do something for them…to which they replied they had it (it was in their hands). Then after 40 minutes of miscommunication she finally did what they needed and they went on their way. Then it was my turn finally. She took a skim over my paperwork and let me know something was missing….a stamp from my Dr. I ask what was missing. Her response was that the Dr. had to stamp it with pertinent information so I would have to go back to that Dr. and get her to stamp it. I explained that I waited 7 mths to see that Dr. and now she wanted me to go back to Windsor and see if she would stamp it? Her answer was yes that that was all I could do. I left very upset. Went home and actually read the paper…that stipulated the paper could be “printed or stamped” and all that was needed was the Dr.s name and address. I filled out the Dr.s name and address in pen, drove to Blenheim service ontario and in 5 min had what I needed. Chatham is a BIG WASTE of tax payers money. The staff there is only after job security as they don’t seem to do anything to help actual customers. I thought it was very ironic that while I was in Blenheim standing in line for less than 5 min with 7 other people, we all chatted and found 5 of the 7 people there were actually from Chatham…..where like me they couldn’t get things done at the Chatham location, even wit an appointment so like me had to go to Blenheim. Telling my neighbor this story the next day, she let me know Dresden was also a good location. Like Chatham the Dresden does require an appointment, but the people there know what they are doing, are helpful and very efficient.

    Very slow

Edit: After excessive waiting for work to be done, another lawyer was hired. Thanks. You really don’t need more than that. The correspondence is not in my name. It does not matter.

If you read the other negative reviews for this business you will be shocked by the unprofessional conduct of their responses. Nearly identical to their responses if you try to make the office feel responsible for bad work. LSO is going to be your best bud if you pay this business to work for, or represent you.

Jordan.. she is so nice. Very professional and courteous. It’s so good to be greeted on the phone by someone like that, especially when you’re a bit anxious about legal matters you have to handle. I have used their services before for notarization of documents and they were courteous and professional. Just a little update, I called to make an appointment for a document to be notarized and found that they doubled the price from last year. Double!! I don’t know if they upped their prices on everything, but for something so simple, just a signature and stamp, they want way too much. But still, my old review of their professionalism and courtesy still stands. Only due to cost did I decide to go somewhere else.

Recently, we needed some legal assistance and turned to Whittal and Company. We were connected with a young lawyer named Manuel Mady. He was excellent!

Manuel took the time to become acquainted with our concerns and took the time to ask questions to clarify. We found him to be very professional, answered our questions quickly, and was very reassuring.

We were more than pleased with his work! We would not hesitate to call on him again. He is certainly an asset to the team at Whittal and Company.

I was recommended to Whittal + Company by my accountant which I am very grateful for. I was looking to open a numbered Ontario corporation and I wanted it done right. Whittal + Company was the correct choice, they are very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable in corporate law. Whittal + Company provided a seamless service and quickly had my corporation created and properly registered with the government. All aspects of the service they provided were communicated clearly and what really impressed me is that Whittal + Company is easy to contact and very helpful with answering any questions. I recommend Whittal + Company to any person who is seeking a client oriented, professional law firm.

Not deserving of any star. They charged us $7,000 and $4,400 plus disbursement respective for a Toronto condo purchase and an Ottawa house purchase. We have purchased a few properties over the years and have an idea of the cost which would be around $1,500 to $2,000. We were shocked at the amount, in addition, the work was sloppily done, the property manager of the condo in Toronto told us she had never had such an experience with incompetency in her 40 years working there. We are seriously consider taking him to small claim court right now. We are certain the lawyer thought he can get away with it because he thought “Why not ?, they can afford to pay it.” We are certain that if one is to go through their past clients, the rate they charge would be no where close to what they charged us. By the way, we checked with law firms in Toronto, Ottawa, London and their rates for these transactions at the highest quote given, $2,400. Lowest, $1125. STAY AWAY please.

A notary public (a.k.a. notary or public notary; pl. notaries public) of the common law is a public officer constituted by law to serve the public in non-contentious matters usually concerned with general financial transactions, estates, deeds, powers-of-attorney, and foreign and international business. A notary's main functions are to validate the signature of a person (for purposes of signing a document); administer oaths and affirmations; take affidavits and statutory declarations, including from witnesses; authenticate the execution of certain classes of documents; take acknowledgments (e.g., of deeds and other conveyances); provide notice of foreign drafts; provide exemplifications and notarial copies; and, to perform certain other official acts depending on the jurisdiction. Such transactions are known as notarial acts, or more commonly, notarizations. The term notary public only refers to common-law notaries and should not be confused with civil-law notaries. With the exceptions of Louisiana, Puerto Rico, Quebec (whose private law is based on civil law), and British Columbia (whose notarial tradition stems from scrivener notary practice), a notary public in the rest of the United States and most of Canada has powers that are far more limited than those of civil-law or other common-law notaries, both of whom are qualified lawyers admitted to the bar: such notaries may be referred to as notaries-at-law or lawyer notaries. Therefore, at common law, notarial service is distinctly different from the practice of law, and giving legal advice and preparing legal instruments is forbidden to lay notaries such as those appointed throughout most of the United States. Despite these distinctions, lawyers in the United States may apply to become notaries, and this class of notary is allowed to provide legal advice, such as determining the type of act required (affidavit, acknowledgment, etc.).
