  1. WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER! Where exactly do I start with this place? After my friends and I checked in I observed that they provided exactly ONE bar of soap. I’ve never seen another hotel do this. Wait it gets better. I go try and take a shower and the water pressure was well below average. I’ve gotten better water pressure in 3rd world countries. They don’t provide a Do Not Disturb tag unless you go to the front desk to ask for one. Again, what hotel doesn’t provide this in the room? I found this out the hard way when the maid service (which I’ll get to in a minute) started banging on my door asking if I needed cleaning while I was trying to sleep. Keep in mind I was only staying two nights so again who sends cleaning services to your room when you’ve only stayed one night? The beds were ROCK HARD which made for an unpleasant sleeping experience as did the rock hard pillows. Apparently the hotel thought it was a smart idea to have someone doing loud maintenance work in the room next door, ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND! One of the busiest weekends of the year for hotels. REALLY? I also had neighbors directly across from me who couldn’t help but be noisy as hell. Not a problem right? Just throw on the ceiling fan problem solved right? When I turned my ceiling fan on it oscillated so badly it looked like it might fall out of the ceiling. YIKES! The BEST part or obviously the WORST part? After I and my friend and family checked out they gifted us with cleaning charges which they claimed was due to Memorial Day weekend. What a CROCK! You’re already paying the cleaning people and you want me to believe that cleaning charges aren’t already factored into the cost of the room? I can say with 100% certainty I would NEVER stay in this place again no matter how cheap it was.

  2. The hotel itself is really nice. Staff is super helpful upon entry. Quick check in. The rest of the staff was also very helpful and courteous. Access to the pool was good. The pool was clean but the over all pool needs work. The texture on the bottom and walls was rough on the feet. Rooms where clean and huge. Wish we could of gotten more than one wash rag. Breakfast was excellent!! We will be back for the location and staff. Finally I think they should have a few more handicap parking, 3 for such a big hotel is not enough.

  3. My experience here was nothing short of amazing. The location is fantastic, super close to the beach. Our room was very spacious and the walls seemed thick, like you couldn’t hear much going on around you. It was so impressively clean. The staff was kind and helpful.
The water pressure of the shower was great, and the temperature too. The bottom of the pool was a little rough– but not like broken glass, more like just a rough, rocky kinda surface.

Everytime I needed ice or vending the machines worked, the hot tub and pool were both open. The breakfast was so good. They had bfast tacos, omelette station, Belgium waffles, etc. The bed was very comfortable too. 10/10 can’t wait to go back.

  4. If you want a 5 star South Padre Island getaway without breaking the bank, La Copa Inn Beach Resort is your choice. I arrived at the hotel at 11am with my King with Jetted Bath room not ready so I was allowed to use their amenities and wow I had fun. I don’t recommend you spend the extra money for the jetted bath. We only used once because we had too and water took an hour to fill. Plus you have a hot tub outside so use that.. anyways Drinks including 2-5p happy hour with it’s restaurant just seconds from the pool really made our experience fulfilling. The restaurant has really good food and we never moved our car. Great prices for good food. Pool and beach walking distance with a spot to rinse the sand off. There’s a fitness room, area to do laundry, gift shop and Starbucks on property. Once I parked my car I had no reason to leave the property . My experience was exceptional. Great job to the staff!

  5. First time staying at La copa inn, I enjoyed it.
Rooms were clean the hallway is kept clean and cool. The food at their restaurant was good. Breakfast was decent. The only complaint is they only allow one parking space per room and didn’t find out until check in time. Overall a good stay.

Essential Beach Resort Packing Guide

A beach resort vacation promises sun-kissed days, sandy shores, and the soothing sound of ocean waves. As you embark on this idyllic journey, proper preparation and packing are key to ensuring a memorable and stress-free stay. From sun protection to beach attire, this comprehensive beach resort packing guide will help you pack everything you need for a delightful and relaxing beach getaway.

1. Sun Protection Essentials

Sunscreen is your best friend at the beach. Pack a high SPF sunscreen to shield your skin from harmful UV rays. Don’t forget to bring lip balm with SPF protection and a wide-brimmed hat to shield your face from the sun. Sunglasses with UV protection will also help keep your eyes safe and comfortable.

2. Swimwear and Cover-ups

Pack your favorite swimwear to enjoy the beach to the fullest. Whether it’s a swimsuit, bikini, or board shorts, choose comfortable and stylish options. Don’t forget to bring cover-ups like lightweight sarongs or beach dresses for strolling around the resort or lounging by the pool.

3. Beach Towels and Blankets

While most beach resorts provide towels for poolside use, having your own beach towels is handy for sunbathing on the sand. Consider bringing a beach blanket for picnics or relaxation on the shore.

4. Beach Bag

A spacious beach bag is essential for carrying all your beach essentials. Look for a durable and water-resistant bag that can hold your sunscreen, water bottle, books, snacks, and other personal items.

5. Comfortable Footwear

Pack a pair of comfortable flip-flops or sandals that are easy to slip on and off. These will be perfect for walking on the sand and around the resort. If you plan to do water activities like snorkeling or kayaking, consider bringing water shoes for protection.

6. Lightweight Clothing

Opt for light and breathable clothing suitable for warm beach weather. Pack shorts, T-shirts, sundresses, and comfortable outfits for casual resort wear.

7. Beach Accessories

Bring along some beach accessories to enhance your experience. Consider packing a beach umbrella for shade, a portable cooler for keeping drinks cool, and a beach mat or chair for lounging by the water.

8. Reusable Water Bottle

Stay hydrated throughout your beach resort stay by bringing a reusable water bottle. Many resorts have water stations where you can refill your bottle, reducing plastic waste.

9. Entertainment and Gadgets

Don’t forget to bring your favorite beach read, e-reader, or magazines for relaxation. If you enjoy capturing memories, bring a waterproof camera or a waterproof phone case to snap photos in the water.

10. Personal Care Items

Remember to pack personal care items like toiletries, medications, and first aid essentials. Aloe vera gel or after-sun lotion can provide relief for sun-exposed skin.

With this beach resort packing guide, you’ll be fully prepared for an unforgettable and enjoyable stay at the beach. Packing the essentials such as sun protection, swimwear, and comfortable attire will ensure you have a stress-free vacation. So, grab your suitcase, head to the beach resort, and let the waves carry you into a rejuvenating and blissful experience.

Location is great! The beach is clean and was not over crowded. Hotel takes great lengths to make sure non-resort people do not access the amenities. All the staff have been really nice and helpful. With that said, the rooms are incredibly over priced. Our room had dust built up in cabinet and wall crevices. I killed a cockroach in my room and the front desk staff did not know what to do. The pools did not appear the cleanest, and I was served a drink with black floater in it with a hair sticking out of it. My drink was replaced with no charge; however, that should not have happened. Will not be returning.

This property shows its age, as most do on SPI, but still worth the costs. We chose a room near the nightclub and did not regret it. The bass we heard was minimal. The band’s performance was phenomenal! People were on the dance floor for each of their sets.🤩 You can check-in early at no additional charge if your room is prepped. We were lucky enough to get in by 11:45. The room was very clean. The beach was lovely. No seaweed or litter. Umbrellas are available. There are several spots on the property for food and drinks with breakfast and dinner buffets. The main restaurant’s AC was broken. VERY uncomfortable and disappointing. There’s a gift shop in the lobby that’s worth a visit before you hit the others in town. There’s some construction going on, renovations, but the ‘noise’ wasn’t bothersome at all and began after 9. The pools are not as large as expected and needed some shock immediately, but there’s plenty of chairs, the deck was spotless, and the drinks are NOT watered down. We’re definitely going back this summer.

The rooms are not as advertised, our room had stains that looked like blood, the lock was faulty and completely stopped working on the last night. The main hotel that is advertised is not what you get you’re on the side in motel type rooms no couch with a bed pull out the beds are small and pulled away from the wall, our room needs a thorough deep clean. The railing on the walkway is pulling away from the structure, our balcony railing was rotted one piece was broken from the rot. Ocean view is actually a view of the tennis court and sand dunes. We left our cooler outside the fence gate for the pool as there was a sign to not bring it in and we had just come from the beach (mind you it had water and Gatorade for us and the kids no alcohol) and an employee came up and said it’s not allowed not even allowed on the premises. When leaving my husband tried to put a little ice in it to get us home (not filling it just a little) and was told that’s not allowed. The pools were hot all day. There is construction going on in the parking lot that was not mentioned as well. Several people we ran into had the same complaints. We will never stay at this place again. Staff was hit or miss on hospitality. The only good thing was the room got cold.

My stay is not happening until summer, but my booking experience was phenomenal. Alisha was awesome! She made the reservation with a happy, healthy attitude. Accommodating all the way through the phone call, covering every detail with a professional and respectful tone of voice. Vacation planning can be difficult, but with every question I had, she had a very patient, and thorough response. If our stay at Isla Grand Beach Resort is anything like our booking experience it is going to be a fantastic stay!
    Thank you Alisha.

My Daughters and I took off on a last-minute beach trip to South Padre after I was allowed a three-day weekend from work. We booked a home through an online site that turned out to be a scam. So I called Isla Grand on a wing and a prayer (it’s a holiday weekend we had a slim chance of finding a place so late) and whoever answered was great, they were friendly and accommodating and we booked a condo! Either this was meant to be or it’s a dive that no one wanted to book (what were my thoughts)
As luck would have it, my car broke down on the highway halfway there. It was the alternator (it had to be towed and everything). So we missed the first night I booked the room at 8 pm and we broke at 10 so we had to stay overnight in the car. I called the hotel to beg them for forgiveness for no-showing and add a day because my car would be in the shop for four days.
I spoke to Sabrina, I was very overwhelmed and discouraged. Sabrina was WONDERFUL. She held a conversation with me as if she knew me, and wanted to help me.
She followed up when she said she would (she actually called me back when she said she would). She helped us get settled, and feel at ease. This was HUGE for me this weekend since I work a LOT & this weekend meant the world to me and my kids.
We checked in and it was GREAT. The rooms were clean and well-organized. There was construction so the balcony was blocked off (which was a bummer) and it was a bit loud (parties traffic and some noise from construction) the hotel noise that kept us awake were the people above us moving furniture and being loud (I didn’t report it because everything else was good and we worked around it).
My shower was clogged (wouldn’t drain) but they sent a repair guy quickly so that was no issue. The full kitchen was amazing and we cooked dinner in (saved some $)
The beach was clean, and the view from our room was breathtaking (if only we could open the window/we couldn’t because of construction). The location is perfect.
I spoke to Miguel the manager to let him know what outstanding customer service I had received from Sabrina, and HE was equally as welcoming and warm as she was. What a relief!
Very professional, but so caring and so personable (this type of customer care is not “standard” in a lot of places).
By the second day on the beach, I was feeling happy again.

Thank you to everyone who helped us and made a difficult situation easier.
You are appreciated more than you know!!

What a great place . Too bad owners don’t put much back into it. This place is a gem to come. Hang out and go to the beach play volleyball. Bartenders are great, have been coming for years, and the guys are always great. The food is basic . They should add mex style shrimp cocktail or beef added to the nachos.. There food should be like those beach places that take pride in having great food. I only come to hang out and go to the ⛱️.

We loved it here! The rooms are inexpensive, basic, older( but well kept), roomy, clean and comfortable with all necessities. Right on the beach! The bar food is just that…bar food. I don’t eat a lot of fried food so I can’t comment on anything but the burger, fries and coleslaw we had, and all were good. Drinks are great and the bartenders are amazing. Cool place to hang and chill out with an amazing view.

Was told from a bartender of another astonishment that she recommended this place. Great atmosphere, right on the beach, off the beaten path. When we visited, it was later in the day, and windy and cool. We were trying to make the best of our last day on the island. I am very happy with the service. Did not eat. I just had a couple of drinks. Interested in staying in one of the rooms next time we are here!

Watch out for checking in after 9 PM.

It’s a great location, there was just no information about the hotel check-in desk closing at any particular time, either on their website, or their Google page, or various booking agencies. I could not get anyone to help me, either at the hotel or the booking agency I used. Now I’m out $178 and have nowhere to stay, all because the front desk closes at around 9 PM.

Didn’t stay at the Inn but the beach bar is amazing. Robert, Mondo, Jesse and (one other I can’t remember his name for the life of me) were awesome! The service was top notch. Very personable and professional. The drinks were perfectly made. I had about 4 different ones and I think the Wanna Wanna was my fave. All the foods been good so far as well. Fried oysters were probably my favorite. Thanks again guys for an awesome time so far!
