What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. This was the most memorable vacations that I have had!!! The room was so beautiful and luxury. I was treated with so much kindness by the staff who attended to me. The writers and team were all very pleasant. The atmosphere was great and vibe was so relaxed!!! Loved it here and I can’t wait to return soon!!!

  2. This was by far one of the best resorts we’ve stayed at as far as amenities go. We stayed here while waiting for our cruise. Plenty of restaurants and drinks onsite. No need to go anywhere for anything. The only inconvenience is they don’t let you check in early. So after your flight be ready to check your bags at the counter and then you can grab a drink poolside in your travel clothes. This place has quality food and the resort is clean. Very happy here and would definitely stay again.

  3. I am so glad that I booked a two-night stay. The location was perfect, the view was nice, and the staff was amazing. I’m a military family stationed at Fort Johnson and don’t have much time off. It was great going to a nice and relaxing place. All the staff was friendly but I’d like to recognize Timothy (Tim) and Dustin at the front desk. They were awesome and great to talk to. We will be going back soon!

  4. We went to their restaurant on property, Grotto, for our 10th anniversary.

The hotel is obviously gorgeous, and we definitely got the feel of something you’d see in Vegas.
    Loved the ambiance.

The waitstaff at the restaurant is impeccably dressed, the service was on point, and the food was wonderful. We even received a comped dessert for our anniversary.

    We’ll be back!

  5. The San Luis Resort is a beautiful place! The pool was a little disappointed, too small and shallow for my taste but overall the facilities are gorgeous with a variety of restaurants, bar areas, and lots of things to do within walking distance. They even have a movie night for families in a beautiful lawn area. I definitely will go back!

    Crisp Elegance!

Recently renovated hotel that is making classic Art Deco and brightness work well.

Two in our party that met with three other adults to enjoy an afternoon drink and conversation.

Lobby bar with rich mahogany, tight darker carpeting and comfortable seating areas – open and semi-private. So there are seating options for as much privacy and social engagement as desired.

Energetic staff with great service. Drinks were on point with the the right balance of flavors with alcohol. Classic drinks to today’s standards. Reasonably priced for such a great setting.

We walked around to take in the terrific tile work on the floors, the ornate doors, live plants and other decorative aspects.

Stay here if you want to spoil yourself or visit for a drink to do the same.

Paid over $500 for one night in the ocean view room. The view and the lobby are both beautiful. I enjoyed the stay and would give 5 stars, but it’s not quite there. It’d be great if there was a separate pool for kids / families – you can’t really relax when kids are splashing water on everyone and throwing footballs errantly around the pool. The amount of flies at the pool and in the restaurant was pretty obnoxious, too – I think you can solve that with fly traps. I’m looking forward to when Marriott takes over next month

My husband and I stayed here for July 4th. We were incredibly pleased with the entire experience. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was amazing and had great service, the pool is super romantic at night. Everything was really perfect. No need to even leave the hotel unless you just want to.

We stayed at the Grand for the 4th weekend and we had such a great time! The location was perfect, Walking distance to the beach! The hotel is beautiful, Clean and smelt so good! The food was amazing! We never left the hotel! The pool was great! Service was wonderful everyone was so friendly. My only “bad” thing was the doors to get into the rooms were hard to open, our pillows smelt weird, and they could have done a better job with the firework show- but other than that is was a wonderful stay!

Got this hotel as a weekend getaway. As soon as we walked into our room there was a wet carpet stain in our room and there was a scent of fish or spoilage in the room. Come to find out the smell was coming from our pillows. Next day we were expecting fresh towels and our room to be cleaned but no one ever came and when we requested for someone to come they just gave us towels. Makes me wonder if they even cleaned our room before check in. Found out there were other families going through the same thing. A families took hadn’t been ready for 6 hours and luggage was lost… other than that great location. Aesthetics can’t beat customer service and this hotel definitely doesn’t have that. Save your money and go to a different hotel.

We stayed here for 5 days. We ordered room service once and it only took about 30 minutes. The pool was clean and a great temperature. The hot tub was great at night as well. We never had any issues with anything.
The room we stayed in was renovated and nice. They are renovating the first floor to look like the rest. I personally didn’t have any noise issues. Definitely would come back.

The room we stayed in was obviously part of the renovation as you could tell by the updates. The hotel was very nice and the room was clean. The bathroom had a walk in shower and chair height toilet which is great if you are older and have mobility issues. There were no luggage racks in the room which made it a little inconvenient getting things in and out of your suitcase. There was a small refrigerator, but no microwave. I would definitely stay there again.

I have stayed here twice in the last two years. Excellent location along the water. Great restaurants nearby within walking distance. Super friendly staff. Ongoing construction on hotel does not affect quality of stay and will be done later this year anyway.

When planning my recent trip with my young granddaughters to Galveston, I looked at many accommodation options there. I’ve been going to Galveston for 60 years, but most of my trips have been day trips because I live in Houston. Occasionally I have overnights with family and friends. This time, with my granddaughters, I especially wanted a place where we stayed to be nice. I read some good reviews of some places, but along with those good reviews, they were always the naysayers and negative reviewers you talked about everything from noisy air conditioning and dead bugs on the floors to awful smells and bedbugs. I was at a loss about what to do. Finally, I decided to go with my Hilton Honors Points and reserve a room at the Hilton Galveston Island Resort. That turned out to be one of the best travel decisions I’ve made. The staff at the resort was incredible, from my first interaction at the front desk to my last interactions with Dylan at the front desk and Tommy at the valet desk. Through no fault of the hotel, we did have a little bit of a wait, because the computer system went down, leaving the front desk clerks with only one working computer. However, Elizabeth and the other desk clerk (I wish I could remember his name — he was a great help with our pool wristbands, too) were so patient, friendly, positive, and kind. Sparkle was another front desk clerk who was helpful the next day. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in my lifetime, and I truly don’t think any hote associates have been as great as they were. Add to that the great pool, the dreamiest and most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in (my granddaughters agreed), reasonable valet parking, and air conditioning that was actually strong enough for our South Texas heat. All of these helped make this trip to Galveston was one of the best I’ve ever had — and, as I said before, I’ve made a LOT of trips to The Island. (by the way, excuse the messes in the photos — I forgot to take pictures before we made ourselves comfortable. And the mirror above that desk was awesome — lighted like a big make-up mirror — with a regular make-up mirror on the desk! Awesome!)

It is not worth the $500 per night. Hotel is going renovations and there’s a lot of construction going on. My room was not available for early check in like I was promised. I had 2 dogs with me and they couldn’t be in common areas like the pool. Could only be on the lobby and had to be kept in the room. You also couldn’t leave them alone in the room. There was no room cleaning for the 2 nights we were there. There was only one small restaurant in the hotel. To be considered a 4 star hotel I was expecting more of a variety and at least 2 restaurants to choose from. The only nice thing was the pool and how close we were to the beach.
