What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Service: 10/10
Very helpful people, always point me in the right direction, but they don’t follow you to the aisle which I don’t like, taking them away from their tasks just to cater to me.

    Cleanliness: 7/10
Could use some attention but considering it’s high traffic and the employees are overworked

    Staff: 10/10
Very nice people, the older ladies call you baby or sugar, an old southern tradition.

    Atmosphere: 8/10
A very comfortable place to shop around and browse

    Busy: 8/10
It was pretty busy, but most Krogers are

    Value: 7/10
Depends on what you need, you can find it cheaper elsewhere but at least Kroger always has good quality

    Overall: 9/10
This is one of the better Krogers I’ve been too, and the bad reviews may come from the fact that most of the staff is black which some people have a problem with here in VA. They can’t say the N word so they find other things to complain about and be a general Karen about things. These workers deserve ever bit of consideration, by management and customers alike

  2. This is a great grocery store. It is well stocked and the bathroom is very clean. The only problem is the toilet paper holder is broken other than that a great experience.

  3. Karen (is her real name) wouldn’t honor the return policies and coup up and attitude when I called the manager for an answer here’s the 1800 that you can’t find on the receipt nor the store so you can exercise your right as a consumer

  4. I usually love this Kroger because they always have what every other one doesn’t have, I just drive all the way from Hardy just to walk up to the doors and be let down because they don’t open for me….. am I missing something because I could have sworn I made sure to verify with google that they are open until 11 before I drove all the way out here….this is completely messed up for their updated hours not to be updated

  5. I cannot believe how I was treated by their “security”. I walked in with my husband around 9pm & as I was walking past security I hear “MAAAAAAAM” loud & incredibly rude. It was their rent-a-cop yelling at me. (I was not far enough where a simple, “excuse me” couldn’t be heard.) He proceeded to tell me I had to leave my purse at the front with him because I couldn’t “have it”. When I asked him why he said “it’s late & there’s a lot of weird stuff going on.” Okay? I wouldn’t be so upset if maybe he didn’t have an awful, mean tone. So rude. So rude. Also I felt like I was being accused of stealing as soon as I walked in. No I didn’t leave my purse with a strange man. I put it in my car. But the whole experience was awful. He was so obnoxiously rude. I live in the neighborhood & I loved coming here. I’ve never had such a terrible experience at any other Kroger in Roanoke, Salem or vinton. Don’t go here unless you like being talked to like you’re a piece of trash & you did nothing wrong but walk in the door. Do better, Kroger. Do better. I will not be going to this Kroger anymore which is sad because I used to like it & live so close. I’m an adult, I will have my purse if I want to. It’s that simple.

Love the Bonsack Kroger. Clean store. Nice employees . Picking up my grocery order is a breeze. Tried the Home Chef BBQ ribs. Available from the deli after 11a.m. Ready to eat. Yum!!! 😊👍🏻

Very clean and well maintained store. Associates are always friendly and helpful. The chocolate milk is slightly overpriced and at the same time, very easy to steal. Another one of God’s little tests.

I attempted to use a $50 gift card – was told to scratch off the silver tape – then I could not read the numbers and I was told I was supposed to use a coin and not my fingernail and the card was no longer valid. Happy Birthday to me! I will never shop at Kroger again and will tell all of my friends and family as well. Why put the number on a piece of tape that is covered by another piece of tape?????

Shout out to the bakery in Kroger Bonsack! This cake was not only delicious but looked amazing! Probably the best cake we have had in a long time. I ordered it the day before and it was ready and waiting for me to pick it up. Thank you!

I wish there was a “zero” star.I am not sure who is the produce manager, but they really need to take lessons from Publix or even Food Lion.Produce is horrible.and they are always out of the nessary produce items.

And when you ask an employee, they look at you like you have 4 eyes.I sure wish we had a Publix here, that would never be the case.

This is a small but great Kroger. The fruit section is very good and the staff is very friendly. Shannon was a very pleasant employee and is always good to her customers.

As someone who picks up 1-2 prescriptions each month (and has for the last 7-8 years), I got to know the staff at this pharmacy well when I moved to Roanoke 3-4 years ago. A few months ago, I had my first bad experience with the pharmacy. I have ADD and take controlled substances to manage it…have for literal years. I’ve been coming to this Kroger to pick up for years as well, and everyone has been wonderful–except for this rude, judgmental pharmacist.

A few months ago, I lost my grandfather (who raised me). The sudden upset required out-of-town travel and massive amounts of unexpected energy/focus. For one month, my Dr. upped my dosage to help manage the situation. As soon as he called in the upped dosage, the pharmacist called me, rude right off the bat, and treated me like I was trying to get extra medication. Immediately accusatory and aggressive, despite the fact that I’d been coming once or twice a month for ages.

It left a horrible taste in my mouth and, even after she called me back “after confirming with my doctor” everything I had just told her, I knew I didn’t want to interact with her ever again. Who treats people that way?!

In the following months, after expressing to my GP that I wanted to switch pharmacies, “my doctor” was out of the country. In the interim, various GPs from the office approved my monthly medications, some sending them to the new pharmacy, some accidentally sending them to Kroger.

I attempted to fill my FINAL prescription with Kroger on Wednesday–or rather I sent my order in the app, assuming I’d get a notification in a few days when it was ready (as per usual). After receiving a call from a tech who saw I filled the last prescription at another pharmacy, and explaining the situation, I confirmed it would be my last refill with the pharmacy–that I’d filled another medication in August, and that this would be my last refill of this medication. Yada, yada, yada.

Like ten minutes later, I get a call from the same rude pharmacist from months back. Not only does she accuse me of pharmacy shopping and saying I’m trying to refill too early, but this woman lost all touch with reality. Actually, I don’t think that’s true… I think she was unwilling to admit that she was wrong, so instead of doing the right thing and hearing me out (regarding an issue I’d spoken to her about months in advance: switching pharmacies, Dr. out of the office, etc.) she decided to lie.

She accused me of calling over and over again, hounding her staff, saying “I need my medication in the next few hours!” I never called. Not a single time. I tried to explain I just did the app order like I always do, thinking I get a text when it was ready, and that’s it. I suggested that maybe she was confusing me with someone else…? Because I literally never called… That I did speak briefly with a tech who called me, but that was legitimately all that happened.

Instead of admitting her mistake, this pharmacist said SHE HEARD THE CALLS THAT I NEVER MADE. And then she called my doctor’s office and sent a letter about my concerning behavior. I immediately called the GM to explain the situation and dispute the issue. Same with my Dr’s office.

I’ve been waiting for a call from the pharmacy manager for two days, because apparently they handle things separately. I waited. Nothing. Called back today. Nothing.

I was not only told that my message was never passed along, but the pharmacy manager I eventually spoke with said there is basically no recourse–that Big Box pharmacies like Kroger and CVS have “so many customer interactions” that basically no one will care.

I was super nice, spoke to like 4-5 different managers, and the answer was, “Sorry. Sucks for you. Don’t know you know we’re a major corporation?”

I highly recommend avoiding this location. And filing complaints with the Board of Pharmacy if you can’t.

Horrible, the employees INCLUDING the manager ignored me when I ask for a single help as they past by me. The other kroger stores has more stuff BUT this place literally has limited whatever they have. Would not recommend if they keep acting like this. They need better associates and manager who is taking their job seriously if you want customers to be happy and come back again. Sick of it.

If I could give this place a negative 10 I would! starting with its customer service! Went in for a pack of cigarettes and Lindsey behind the counter decided to take the woman that was clearly behind me! Why? Who knows. After a few minutes of looking for a gift card for her I said hey I just needed a pack of cigarettes which would have taken under a minute to buy she shouts hey if you can’t wait you can go to self check out and they will come here and get them. I’m a manager in retail so take my advice. Dump this woman and dump her fast!!!!
