  1. Went to ACCT Philly in early August. Adopted such an awesome 1.5 year old medium size dog that was surrendered by a family, for needing too much attention, nipping and barking too much. In the 2 months we have had him he has done none of what was said. What the family called nipping is the typical puppy/younger dog ear licking and love biting, which we have curbed him from doing. Needing too much attention is him wanting to Play catch and tug. His barking is only to alert when he hears odd sounds outside. He is exactly what my family wanted.
I write our experience to hopefully let others know just how great the staff has been. They tell us the negatives and positives of the dog we are adopting so that we can make a solid decision. And we hope to let others know that just because a few negative things are said about a dog by previous owner does not mean it is true. They are surrendered animals and strays, they are a chance we take, and can never really know what behaviors you will get in any animal. They are all a lovely work of art in the beauty of each and everyone of their individual behaviors, good and bad.
Every staff member we had contact with the few other times we have been there, since early August (looking for a second dog to adopt) have been nothing short of excellent in their willingness to answer questions and help in any way. My family and I believe that they really do care about the animals. Thank You ACCT Philly for housing and caring for our new adopted family member during his transition to come home with us. We also love all of the videos you take the time to upload to your site, to show us these dogs in action outdoors. We appreciate all that you are doing to help these animals in need.

  2. We arrived around noon, not too busy. The staff were very nice and accommodating. The kennels were relatively clean based on the number of large dogs they have. We saw this big goof and had a great meet with him. He comes home tomorrow after his “procedure” So many great dogs are looking for homes

  3. People truly care here. Always adopt when you can, the shelters cannot accommodate the overwhelming amount of animals neglected in our communities by our neighbors. We need to do all we can as a society to protect these animals & prevent the breeding of more! Thank you for all you do, ACCT. I adopted Darla and she’s been such an amazing addition to my home and day to day life.

  4. They were so patient and helpful with me, you cannot beat the process, yeah there might be a few extra hoops to jump through but that’s why the fees are MUCH lower than other rescues. For me, it was well worth it, I got a new best friend for $96. Thank you all!

  5. The leadership at ACCT and the board members have to be some of the worst leadership. They are now putting animals down after 10 days of being at the site. I have adopted my dog from this place and tried to foster one dog through them but they refused. Luckily a rescue worked with me and I was able to foster the dog and we got her a forever home. Sending an animal to this place is practically a death sentence. Also, if you reach out to the board or leadership, do not expect a response back. I have written to them numerous times and recieved no response. If you can, please adopt or foster animals from here. The one star is for incompetence in leadership. The animals in this shelter deserve better.

We’ve been here twice now for our cat. Dr. Tiffany Duffy took great care of her and test results came back quickly. Everyone else was friendly as well. I know it’s supposed to be low cost, but I was still surprised at how inexpensive it was. Highly recommend taking your pet here for updated shots/exams, or donating if you’re able. Thank you again!

I had 2 dogs neutered here and they were fantastic. The ladies at the front were helpful and patient. They greeted everyone so nicely and took time with everyone who had questions. The Vet was super informative and a sweetheart!! You can tell she is good at what she does and has a passion for it. The place was also very clean! I would highly recommend to get your dog neutered here. They really care about your pet and the owners.

I come here occasionally to visit the kitties they have set up in the 3 meeting rooms, all of which are up for adoption! Despite my living situation leaving me unable to adopt i never feel pressured to do so or donate. The staff are very friendly and truly care for these animals even going as far as to write each cat their own insightful and hilarious bios on their cages. A pleasant experience all around!

Do-over paws is a wonderful rescue. They really care about their dogs and see that they go to a good home. They were very responsive and communicative whenever we had questions and you could tell that our puppy’s foster took great care of her when we picked her up. We got our Charlie From there and couldn’t be happier!

So thankful to the staff at PAWS. My husband and I came here interested in adopting a guinea pig, but after the staff took the time having conversations with us to understand us as people and the type of pet that would blend in beautifully with our home, we realized a cat actually may be more what we’re looking for. Having had previous cat experiences that weren’t good, I was nervous about entertaining the idea of cats, but the lady working there knew the right cat to introduce me to that was a low-pressure way just to meet a cat that was sweet, calm, social so that I could have a positive cat experience and see that not all cats are the same and that cats have different personalities just like humans. As she let me say hi to the cat there, I fell in love with the cat, which I didn’t previously know was possible! What we thought was just going to be a positive experience meeting a sweet cat turned into our hearts melting in love for her and wanting to bring her home with us. We weren’t sure if my husband has cat allergies and wanted to be sure it would be a positive situation for everyone so the lady at PAWS gave us a towel with some of the cat’s fur on it to bring home with us to see if he had any allergic reactions. That whole rest of the day when we went back home to test if he was allergic, I couldn’t stop thinking about how wonderful the cat was and how I wanted to bring her home with us!! The next day we went right over once they opened, and the staff was so sweet and helpful providing us best practices on introducing her to a new home and providing her a safe space to become comfortable and happy in her new home. Just want to say thank you all around to the staff at PAWS, we had conversations with several different staff members there and all were super nice and helpful! Also, we love our cat!! Thanks for your help in matching us with a cat that’s perfect for our family!

I absolutely LOVE PAWS. I adopted my baby boy Pumpkin who is a Shih poo from Paws 7 years ago and it was the greatest decision I ever made. He has brought us so much love and joy. Paws is an excellent adoption center. I have recommended them too many people looking to adopt and I will continue too always.

Adopted the love of my life from paws. She was FELV+ Enough time had gone by since her passing and I saw an appeal from paws on Instagram asking for good foster homes for cats to make room for other cats in the shelter. I decided to go in and sign up at noon on Saturday April 1. It’s fine that the shelter is busy, it’s a Saturday afternoon in the spring. What isn’t fine is the young lady yelling at us “WE’RE AT CAPACITY” and shooing us with a flick of her wrist. Well, hello to you too? We just turned around and left – no reason to deal with being treated as a subhuman when you’re just trying to do a good deed. I think that it’s great what paws does, and I appreciate their mission. But they should give their staff some training in terms of bedside manner. I acknowledge that people can become overwhelmed at work – but if that impacts your ability to treat people decently then maybe you’re in the wrong line of work. If the city’s shelters are too full, maybe make it easier and more pleasant for people to help you.
