What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. This place is small but SO AWESOME!! It has some pretty neat animals to see, including, of course, Sweet Pea the rescued sea turtle. It’s $5 for each person, and I believe children under two are free. Totally worth it and it helps a great cause! It’s great for a rainy day! But call ahead in case they are busy. They will place people on schedules due to an influx in people on said rainy days lol

  2. We had so much fun here! It was only $5 to get in, and a great way to spend some time. Lots of cute animals to see and you learn a lot! It’s small though, so you’ll only need about 20-30 min for it.

  3. This place is Amazing! Educational and it’s a must to visit little Sweet Pea the Sea Turtle!
Great Work that this conservation is doing! The staff were friendly as well and the Gift Shop is small but supports the mission.

  4. Not too much parking. 5.00 for admission but educational and got to see the sea turtle up close. Nice compact gift shop reasonably priced and goes to a great cause. They have an educational session about every 20 minutes. You will be placed in a group when you purchase your tickets. Friendly staff. They have a shark tooth dig for 10.00. You get a container to fill with sand, and you keep the shark teeth and shells you find. Small games to play while you wait.

  5. We enjoyed visiting the lab. We arrived around lunch and visited the outside exhibits. We got to watch them pouring new concrete for the new exhibits. Rumor is a stingray exhibit is coming which would be great. After a few minutes, they invited our group in and see one of the turtles swimming. A brief discussion and then released us into a museum. For $5, my younger kids really enjoyed learning about the sea turtles.

I love this place! The staff are absolutely amazing and very helpful. They were very patient when I was looking around. We adopted our Israel from them in April.

I went in just to look, the staff was super helpful and really helped make the whole process super easy. Left with a new member of the family!

Sad, loud, and kinda filthy. A few dogs were just straight up vicious and should not be with that gate and SHOULD have a sign that warns you they’re aggressive. There was one dog at the end of the hall just crying howling it was heartbreaking. A lot of them are stray bully breeds which is sad but the norm these days. Quite a few just need love and affection, as they would simply lean against the fence for touch. Do not bring small children here who do not know the danger of dogs as there’s no telling when they might turn and bare its teeth. An A for effort but this shelter really needs more funding and employees.

I adopted a dog from here. They lied to me and told me I could bring it back if it didn’t work out. Unfortunately it didn’t work out with the dog and I try to bring it back now they won’t take the dog back. So just be aware if you want to get an animal from here you can’t bring it back. They’ll lie to you and tell you you can but when you try to take it back they won’t take it.

The employees here are ALWAYS SO SUPER NICE. I love good customer service!! I don’t know what I would do without this place sometimes!! I take a lot of rescue cats and try to find them good homes when I can but I’ve gotten stuck with a few so I have like seven or eight cats and every now again like three or four dogs but they usually always find homes pretty quickly so I am so grateful for this place it helps me so much being able to save the money on the free cat food and dog food means I can use the money for other things they need like worming medication, vet bills, helping get them a new home and I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without them much love and MANY BLESSINGS!!🥰🙏🥹😍😇😺🫶🏻🐶

This is where I found my best friend in the world at. I liberated, …er, adopted him several years ago and it was the best decision of my life. He also has proven to be one of the smartest pups I’ve ever had. When I’m down, he tries to cheer me up. There are times when I ask him a question and I think there’s no way he could honestly answer me, it sounds like he does. I ask him to speak for a doggy bone before I give it to him on occasion and he’ll do it without hesitation. He’s housebroken, but only has accidents in the house when he’s sick and can’t make it out the door in time, (which is rare). Loves his tennis ball. He knows what putting on his collar means, (going outside or car ride), (he don’t normally get car sick). When he sleeps, he has to sleep in the same room with me, on the bed, and touching me. This little guy loves me to death. I guess I am his world. I really lucked out in getting a good one. 😉

When an organization comes to a halt after more than 80 years because its own board couldn’t be bothered to be transparent and lawful? That’s sad. When a community resource fails because a group of thirteen people would rather protect themselves instead of doing what’s right by its people, the community it serves, and the animals in need? That’s heartbreaking.

We adopted a female kitten from PHS and she is absolutely perfect! Healthy and well socialize. Highly recommend!

This review is directed solely at the current BoD, and does not reflect the work of any prior employee or volunteer. Since this Board has so childishly chosen to silence so many, including myself on social networks. I have had to leave my thoughts here, and will encourage all others who have been blocked or restricted to do so as well. As a prior donor and volunteer of the organization I am within my rights to leave this review of my past and present interactions. There is a direct conflict of interest with the new Executive Director being a standing member of the board. The Board should elaborate more on this “hiring decision” and make public what due process led to this decision, who else was considered for the position, where they posted the position and what the compensation package entails. Furthermore, as a community organization the board needs to address how Mr. White is qualified for this role? Does he have experience with nonprofits and/or animal shelters? Additionally, by emphasizing Mr. White’s financial background, and deciding to put someone with financial expertise as the Executive Director; is the board finally admitting that there is in fact an issue with the organization’s finances that need addressing? Out of curiosity, who will work for Mr. White? Most if not all PHS employees have been fired, quit, been silenced, and/or are being sued? Same with volunteers! How do you plan to run a successful non profit without help? As a former volunteer of PHS and the Fur Ball specifically I am truly shocked by your treatment of current VOLUNTEERS. You, the board, keep making things worse. And the deeper you dig the shorter the lifespans gets what could be a great organization. Does the entire board truly think the community is going to continue funding you after suing your former employees for raising a red flag? Do you really think donations are going to readily flow in when you refuse to be transparent with funds? Do you think many people are going to HELP you after how you have treated your most recent help? The answer is no. So as a PR professional let me give you some free advice, set your bruised egos aside and do what is right for the organization. Tuck your tales, and get the organization back to what it is intended to do, help and save animals in need. Not fluff reputations and resumes.
