What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Incredibly friendly and didn’t mind me calling every day to see if the kitty I wanted had recovered from her spaying and was available to pick up. I was able to meet her the week prior and fell in love but realized she had somehow not been fixed yet and needed it done. But now she’s home and doing great 🙂

It’s also NOT appointment only. I went in on 3 occasions without making an appointment, and they are very busy with not many volunteers.

  2. These folks get the job done everyday against all odds! Champions to the animals. They are quick and thorough in getting pets reunited with owners and placed in good homes. Hats off to them. All my fur babies have been rescues and or been rescued and returned by them:)

  3. I adopted a 1yr old pitbull from here on 7/28/22 and he is the sweeted loving dog I’ve ever had! I can’t belive the beautiful dogs they have there, I wouldn’t trade my Goofball for anything…need to go back and get him a little brother 😉

  4. I was with my son on a field trip with his school. The place was very clean and seemed very well run. All the volunteers were very knowledgeable and you could tell that they love what they do. There were so many adorable animals available for adoption. They also have a clinic you can bring the animals to which was also very clean.

  5. I have never had issues with this particular location. It’s always been my favorite as opposed to the other location. I surrendered a ferret here over a month ago due to her brother dying and she being a bonded ferret, so I wanted her to go up for adoption to a family with other ferrets. I checked the website weekly and never saw her posted for adoption. I called for weeks and got no answer. 2 months later and I’m just highly upset and sickened! I understand they have a weird policy where you can’t check on surrendered pets but this isn’t a typical surrender. I specifically took her to them so they could help get her into a home with other ferrets for her betterment because I couldn’t find another ferret to bond her with. I had her for 4 years so it wasn’t an easy decision. I checked the website again today and still don’t see her. I don’t know what they did with her or what happened to her. I would trust they wouldn’t just euthanize her because she was in great health. But the fact that I can’t find out any information. Definitely won’t do business here again. I’m disgusted! I absolutely hate that I took her here.

My family adopted a dog name Chico and he is the sweetest dog we could ever ask for. When we adopted him he seemed very well taken care for. I highly recommend the APA for pet adoption. I can tell they care of their animals and do the best they can.

Came to view some dogs & enjoyed my experience. The staff was friendly, to great me as I walked in. Directed me where to find the animals, and even in the baby dog areas, an employee seemed very knowledgeable to what was included in the dogs price. I was kinda bummed to not know what breed any of the dogs were as the young ones were not listed. But always adorable. I’ll definitely be coming back to purchase my new dog here.

This is one of the best places I’ve found in St Louis for pet adoption! They are always willing to help and have amazing foster to adopt programs to help if you are unsure of if the pet will get along with yours. We got our cat Cleo from them and have been so happy to have her in our lives! Cannot praise them enough for the great work they are doing!

My daughter adopted the absolute best senior ever. He was well trained, affectionate and playful. Thank you for Sampson. I adopted Apricot, now known as Scrappy. She was not very social when I brought her home. Now she is out of her shell and is a cuddle bug. She does beautiful with all 8 of my grands and she and Sampson love each other. They play and roll and chase each other for hours. Both of us were a little hesitant at the time we adopted because of the shelter personality we got coming from both dogs. But once they got home, their true personalitieS shine. Thanks APA for letting us adopt these lovelies.

We adopted the happiest senior boy from here last year. His name was Buddy! Sadly he passed away a few months ago, but we gave him the best life possible in the little time we shared together. I recommend adopting from APA Brentwood

When people think of and treat their pets like objects to be owned instead of sentient beings under their guardianship, their pets are disposable. Thankfully Stray Rescue finds discarded animals, and with the support of volunteers rehabilitates them for home life. Here’s Sir Maxamillion von Fluffenstein, III – when he was first rescied he wasn’t great at posing for the camera but he quickly learned. Because of Stray Rescue, this puppers got a better and longer life 💓 at first he stayed by the door but he adapted to the comforts of cozy and the joy of travel just fine. Don’t buy pets. Adopt them and make a donation to Stray Rescue instead.

Adoption process- our family have been looking for the right fit for the past 9 months since our last pup passed. We have 2 kids were an active family and wanted a puppy that would be able to enjoy it with us. A good friend recommended straw paws, set me up with a foster mom (Samantha) who just had a rescue that had puppies. She made arrangements for us to come see them and gave us the rundown on the personalities of each of them. She got to know us and our background and did her due diligence to make sure we were a good fit for the puppies. They do there research they check up with your previous/current vets to make sure pet owners are doing what’s best for the pet and following up with references. I appreciated this.. yes every animal deserves a home but it’s important that pet is going to a home that can give them all the love and the life they deserve. I am so grateful for Samantha for the gift she has given us and how selfless she is to take on that responsibility.

They’re doing a lot of good for the community. They often have long periods of time where adoptions are sponsored. Sometimes they have events where you can meet many of the dogs people foster in their homes.

My boyfriend & I went in looking for a furry friend and came home with the best, most beautiful little girl Mia. Jordan is an amazing worker, he cares so much about the animals and finding them a perfect home/foster family. Thank you guys for giving us our little angel!!

My company invited Stray Rescue out for an event and I learned so much about their passion and how much they do before releasing a pet to someone. All of the people involved with this organization are heroes. And my family now has a wonderful puppy that we are so infatuated with. They are such a positive influence in our community and made a huge positive impact in my life.
