  1. Throughout the pandemic fostering kitties gave me a safe indoor hobby to do that was incredibly enriching. The foster program staff are so knowledgeable and accommodating. There was also a day I needed help from the pet resources center and a staff there, Tracy, was so kind and supportive during a tough situation. The adoption center is also wonderful, as I just celebrated my first foster fail 🙂 if you have the time/transportation to foster I highly recommend it!

  2. I’ve adopted 2 kittens from here 3 months ago. They are the most cutest and cuddly fur babies. They have a great personality and are our greatest addition to our family. Thank you Seattle humane Society. I highly recommend to anyone who would like to a adopt a pet. This is the first place you should check out.

  3. *Update to review below*: Captain had a grand mal seizure a few days after we adopted him. We took him back to Seattle Humane and their veterinary department gave him a full work-up and kept in touch with us every day as we awaited lab results. They were incredibly kind and helpful; ultimately we decided to surrender him back as the seizure was horrific to watch and our son had immense anxiety for the kitty (who had another seizure while in the care of Seattle Humane). I know that Captain and our family could not have been in better hands in this really difficult circumstance. We got attached to him quickly and are heartbroken but know Seattle Humane will find the right home for him. They are first-rate people, care deeply for these animals, and are great at what they do. This is a quality organization from the director all the way to the volunteers, and I would not hesitate to support them in the future.

[Seattle Humane does an amazing job. We adopted a healthy, delightful eight month old cat (Captain) after having had to return one that didn’t work out for us. The process was seamless, painless, and professional. I spent several weeks combing the website (which is updated constantly) & popping in to look at cats, and everyone was always so helpful and so friendly. Thanks Seattle Humane!]

  4. We first browsed the website for a dog to adopt then filled out the interest form. Less than 24 hours later, an employee called to talk through our needs and wants. It turns out the dog we originally were drawn to would not have been a good match for our home. But they helped us find the dog who would be perfect for us. We came in to meet her, and the staff were very caring and helpful. The dogs were clearly well-loved and cared for. We adopted our dog the next day, and received a supply of food, plenty of her medication, a full medical history, lots of helpful information specific to her behaviors and needs, and one perfect dog for our family to love! I recommend adopting here without any reservation. The staff are so knowledgeable, kind, and helpful, the facility is clean and comfortable, and the care the animals receive is excellent.

  5. We are very happy as family with our two new members. They are siblings. We thought only to get one kitten, but they explain us that having two kittens they are more happy. The adoption process was fast and we have all the time to pet them and know exactly the ones we love more. Incredible experience!
Thank you for all the info and care.

Last year, i finally broke down and looked at some cats on this website. I had lost my best friend of 16 years the year before. I hot these two sisters. Today, I went on and donated some food that the sky panther princesses wouldn’t eat. The people there were all so nice!! Clean and caring. Join me in donating, won’t you??

Despite some initial reservations about adopting a “rescue,” we adopted our dog, Pepper (Carolina) a year ago in December. She has proven to be the light of our lives. She is the best dog we have ever had, and we have had many. She is bright, loving, well mannered, full of spirit and a joy to live with. I can’t thank you enough for bringing her into our lives and want to congratulate you on a wonderful facility and public service.

Donate now and help them kidnap more animals. Got a neighbor you want revenge on? They’ll allow you to bring in your neighbor’s pet after you remove the collar with no questions asked. They acknowledged that they aware the person removed the color and tag from my pet before bringing him in and still allow it. Then charged me $65 to get my cat back after only a couple hours.

EDIT FOR ADDITIONAL ANIMAL ADOPTED May 2023- Luda 2.0 (oringinally oyster): We adopted another black cat in addition to our dog golden/shepherd Lily & black Cat Doja Cat. He’s an 8mon old black male kittens. The adoption process was super easy because they kept my application. And since we are in there like 3 times a week so my girls can see the animals they pretty much know us. I was able to get him within a day. it took a few weeks but I realized what a his temperment is & used common sense for the rest. he’s become the perfect addition to our family. He became best friends and allies with my dog right away but the cats took time getting adjusted to eachother. I just let them do their thing after some time and figure it out which they did. They still hiss a little at eachother when it comes to food or my attention but it’s getting better daily. I have 2 perfect cats both laying on our bed at night. One snuggled in my arm and another stretched out stick straight between us with the fan on him lol…. (First pic in the tent is Doja Cat & the pretty boy in the shirt is Luda 2.0) I am extremely experienced in animals and every pet is different but if you are willing to put in the work, time with the proper research for each one..IT CAN BE MAGICAL March 2022: About Doja Cat (originally Jessie): We were originally denied this perfect cat to me and our child because they said she wasn’t good with kids and other dogs. But when my husband went in and got her no Problem… She was just scared. She gets along with everyone in the house and is my child’s best friend.she just needed an adjustment period.

The guy on the phone was very sweet but I had just lost my dog the week before,I told the girl as I was unloading brand new food, chews etc. She was so distant and said put it over there in the corner. Really hurt. I have donated there before and the staff was very kind but not this time.

We found our forever pal and buddy for our other doggo here! Staff are amazing and do everything in their power to find the right fit for these poor souls. *Edit: We discovered after a couple months, that he in fact was not vaccinated like they claimed he was. While they are nice enough to pay for the vaccines and vet trip like they initially offered in the first place, we were not able to go on our yearly vacation together because of it, and now have to take time out of our week to get him a vacine that should have been taken care of by the sheer in the first place. Dropped the rating from 5 to 3 stars due to this.*

I have adopted a dog from here and very easy adoption but there is add expenses that didn’t explain like the dog registration. Other issues the dogs are seen by the veterinarian there. And the dog that I adopted was born there. So they should have known that she has poultry allergies. That was never was in the veterinarian notes. Since she was born there the training volunteer should have socialized her from early stages but she has social anxiety due to improper training. Very sad that you pay three hundred for a dog that should have been trained the standard sit , stay, down, ect command. She been there over a year and half and no training from the volunteers trainers. Lucky I have some experience but say if some that don’t know pits and had no training than she would have been surrendered over for the second time. Yes I am the second owner from what the place told me because the first person didn’t know how to deal with her. I feel that the place should do way better for the animals. It seems like all they cared for is the adoption to make money and don’t care for the animals. Very sad situation. And they get a lot of donations because while I was there they had boxes and boxes of donations from Amazon. I mean boxes this was during Christmas time. But still they should do a lot better than what I received. I could have gotten free pit at a Younger age but thought I would adopt for the first time. Be my last one after this.

My daughter is a very loving person and has wanted a pet so badly. She has worked for a year to prove she is responsible enough to care of a pet. (With a lot of our help of course). I took her to the shelter to rescue an animal as it was important to her that she was giving an animal a good home who otherwise would not have had one. We filled out an application ahead of time. We showed up and it was packed. They only allow people to come in certain times. We went in and saw a cat she wanted to meet. We asked the person who worked there, and he said “This is not a petting zoo; you can’t just see him. You need to go out and fill out an application. They are all adopted anyway.” Then he walked away before I could tell him we had filled out an application. So, I took my daughter down to Puyallup and to Chehalis to find a pet. You can visit any time. The people and animals there are very happy to see you. And they need to be adopted. If you really want to rescue an animal, please consider going to these places. The animals need you there. We were the only people in these places. They were happy to help us with paperwork and sit with us. The Seattle animal shelter has far more applicants than animals, to the point they can be incredibly rude to a loving child looking for a pet. These places don’t have that luxury.

Had to rehome a beloved cat. It was a fine and good experience. As good as it could be anyway considering the situation.. We’d have loved for it to be a bit more personal but it is what it is. Friendly with animals best interests at heart.

I’m not recommending this shelter for anyone who have little kid in the family. We returned a dog because of its aggressive behaviour towards the kid. Even though we love the dog so much but we have to put our kid’s safety first . If you returned a dog in this shelter means you’re basically banned from adopting any animal from here. We loves animals that’s why we choose to adopt from the shelter. I hope this shelter can have better management and training their staffs better. Thank you.
