  I have had several terrific experiences with Pine State Services and this was no exception. The communication before the appointment was consistent and really helpful, including several email exchanges with the scheduler helping me work through technical questions I had about the thermostat install. Keith arrived right on time and was quick to assess our boiler and heating setup. After hearing his explanation of my home wiring situation, I understood that the thermostat I’d hoped to have installed wasn’t the best fit for my needs. He recommended another option that would be significantly less expensive but still achieve my goals for the project. Then he quickly installed both new thermostats and coached both me and my tenant on how to program them in order to minimize strain on the boiler as well as keep heating costs low. Keith was so friendly, respectful and helpful. I felt that he really listened to what I wanted and he was passionate about helping me learn without being condescending or overbearing. It’s a pleasure to work with people like Keith who so clearly enjoy what they do! I am happy to support Pine State and always recommend them to friends and neighbors.

  We were without hot water for several days and our oil company was no help. We searched local plumbers etc but everyone was busy. Called Pine State Services and they were available the next morning to install our heat pump hot water heater. Keith and Gage had the complete install done that day which was amazing!   Each of the Pine State employees, Electricians, Plumber, Heating system install, were all very professional, on-time, performed high-quality work. You could tell they really cared about the work they were doing and it shows! I will definitely continue to use them and highly recommend them. We had quite a bit of old plumbing replaced, laundry sink installed, kitchen renovation, several new lights and they discovered and repaired several electrical issues. I greatly appreciated all their efforts and how well their work turned out!

  We purchased a service contract several months ago. Our house has an energy efficient heating cooling system installed in 2017 by Pine State. Today our system began leaking very badly- like a faucet. Everything on the floor in the basement is ruined. They came out to fix the issue and when the tech came out- he said this is a known problem with the system because it’s a European system and it is not compatible with the water pressure coming from the street. He said they used to cover the replacement part under warranty, but because it happened so often, they stopped covering it. He then proceeded to tell me that in addition to the replacement part it would be a second service to install a flow reducer valve so it wouldn’t happen again. This was close to $2000. I called and spoke with the service manager, James, who told me that the prior owners were told of the issue in 2017 – which makes no sense because that’s when it was installed. I told him they should be telling everyone who had this system installed of the issue- a simple letter. This would save people from losing valuables and experiencing damage. They aren’t. Even though techs have been here 5 times in the last year for various repairs and installs, they never said a word about the issue. Be aware. It is so hard to find good service companies- this one does not stand by their products or service.

  Mr.Handyman does a nice job in reviewing the issues and responding if it’s something they are able to do. They provide estimates on some items and others we just appreciate that they send a skilled tech out to do a repair or job. They do book out a little bit on the calendar and had to reschedule one time as a tech was not well, however, the next week the tech was onsite. That’s great service and taking thoughtful care of their employees. The internal staff is excellent yet it can take time for them to get back to you so be patient as everyone has labor shortages. The tech’s that I have dealt with have excellent backgrounds and professional in approach and the work is good.

  I have used this company twice now – remodeling after a water leak and most recently a storm door installation. From start to finish, they were amazing. Sam & Julia in the office were kind, super responsive, and always helpful. Technicians Pat & George were on time, very personable, and did excellent work – exactly what we needed. I will definitely be calling them again for any house repair or project that arises. I highly recommend!!

  Mr. Handyman and the services they provided far exceeded our expectations. We had been struggling for months to find anyone to even give us an estimate for a much needed bathroom remodel in a single bathroom home. Mr. Handyman provided us with a very reasonable estimate at half the cost of any others we received. Duane, our technician, was outstanding and the type of person who you hope would be the one to do your remodel. He is an extremely talented and knowledgeable individual. When incorrect materials were delivered and the correct ones not in stock he quickly was able to provide a solution that delivered a bathroom far better than we ever imagined. When we ran into issues with more time needed as well as questions we found Julia , the Office Manager, to be very responsive and understanding that with a one bathroom home timing is extremely important. We would highly recommend Mr. Handyman!

  Following an accident where a tenant put her heel through a porch step in the back of the house, a gorgeous structure dating to the 1880s, requested Mr. Handyman come out and, simply, replace those three aged steps and small porch with Trex materials, to match our other porches. A Mr. Handyman technician came out on the 6 May, replaced the steps and porch floor (with a material other than Trex), making it functional, but due to materials shortages, he was unable to finish the details of the porch flooring patterns. The technician told me he would come back later, when materials had come in, to finish the job. We were billed $811 at this time. Time passed into August, and on the 6th a second technician (the first had left the company in the meanwhile) came to finish the job. While cutting the flooring for the necessary repairs, his saw cut a screw, sending out sparks which landed on the dry wood of the porch and started them smoldering. The technician smothered the fire with a chemical agent, worked a bit more, and then left to get some parts at the hardware store. He left not knowing the fire had not been fully extinguished. Sometime shortly after that, a completely serendipitous visit by the second tenant in that apartment who had a reason to come back home and saw . . . flames beginning to consume the porch. As a former volunteer fire man, our tenant fortunately knew how to proceed, realizing that only water would stop the smoldering flame. Acting quickly, the porch — and house — was saved. When firemen arrived shortly thereafter, they felt it necessary to check the interior, to make sure flames were not spreading inside the walls. Fortunately, this was not the case — only the porch had sustained damage. Let me summarize: We asked Mr. Handyman to fix a porch, and you very nearly burned down the house! Your efforts to repair the damage produced an unsightly mess that now mars that porch. For this you charged us an additional $600. i paid those bills, honorably but foolishly, for by doing so i am reduced to pleading with Mr. Handyman for a more just resolution than charging us more than $1400 to perform perfunctory repairs, nearly burn down the house, and “repair” the work in an amateurish manner. i wrote an email to this end a week ago, and have not received any response. Come spring, we will get our normal carpenter, he will fix all the “repairs” done by Mr. Handyman, it will cost a pretty penny, and i will sit and dwell on the lesson i have learned. The perceptive reader will be able to figure out what that lesson is.
