As a small business owner in the past I know firsthand the importance of getting paid for your services and am fine with prepaying. Also, the other complaint on here about having an emergency with 2 kids, well, why are you waiting until the last minute to order oil? What if I am waiting on them too and I called before you? Extremely unprofessional, unskilled, and careless. We reached out to Mr. Handyman when the tile floor next to our sliding patio door broke through due to some water damage caused by the previous owner’s negligence. We decided to take the opportunity to lay a new tile design and replace the patio door for which we were quoted $1000 and 1 day of work. In actuality, we ended up spending over 3x this and the job took 2 days.
The resulting look was well below what anyone would expect of a professional service with crookedly laid tile, sloppy/uneven grout, and an unleveled bowing to the whole thing.
To make matters worse, that section of the floor began to squeak and creak 1 month later. We raised this issue and they sent out someone to come and assess the situation. From there, it was determined that the initial handyman did not catch that the floor needed additional support installed which resulted in the bowing and squeaking. Subsequently, we were told that
the owner would need to come out and take a look as well in order to address this. Weeks went by trying to get something scheduled just to never have the owner bother to show up. The handyman that originally did the installation was sent back again to take a look at the issue and determine a resolution. Their proposed resolution? An automated email quoting us an additional $1062 price tag with the following stipulations: “Be aware that this may cause other issues such as tiles moving and failing, squeaks, wall cracks, and possible slider readjustments may also be needed. This will not completely fix the sag”. So not only does this company not stand behind their craftsmanship, but they have the audacity to charge over $1000 not only to not fix the issue, but potentially cause more damage. We’ve been met with silence for well over a week now after replying to this quote raising our concerns.
Stay away from this “business” at all costs as they have no care for their customers and their operating practices are borderline criminal.
Mr. Handyman has become a trusted part of maintaining our home, excelling at everything we’ve thrown their way from creating a decorative panel for our new dishwasher to fixing cabinet drawers that wouldn’t stay closed. Highly recommend!
I used their services for installing a dryer vent under our crawl space to vent outside instead of under our home. James was very courteous, walked thru the job and did for slightly less than quoted, a pleasant surprise. He did the work and took pictures to show me so I didn’t have to crawl under to see it. Very positive experience and will keep them in mind for the next thing that eventually comes along being a homeowner. Well done James!!
I had a complicated bathroom ventilation problem. Jessie showed up (on time), did the trouble-shooting, and fixed it. Just like that. Folks, this is the way life is supposed to be! This was my first time using this company. Mr. Handyman is now my go-to company for household repairs that I cannot manage on my own. I am totally satisfied with this outcome.
I had Jesse come to our home to rip up a old subfloor that was put in improperly in my basement, he did a amazing job, got rid of all of the flooding did a amazing job cleaning and making sure no nails were still sticking out. He also hung a shade for me that seemed like it took him 2 minutes! Will definitely be requesting him by name for any other jobs I need done in the future!
