  Great spot to get a haircut. It feels like a tattoo shop environment with the cool art on the walls. I got a haircut from Carrie who is in training as an apprentice and she did a fantastic job! They offer a multitude of services for your barber needs. The owner brought her cat into the shop to hang out and it was really cool to see it hanging out with everybody. Definitely recommend getting your hair cut here, you’ll more than likely have to book ahead due to popularity.

  Missouri is, without a doubt, a gem of a human being and an excellent barber, whose care for her customers is only matched by her skill in precision-style cutting. I have followed her to this store from another and would make an appointment on Mars if she moved there. She’s that talented and fun to talk to and LISTENS to what you want. The ladies at this store are welcoming, laid back, and have the coolest conversations with you while you’re getting your hair cut. The decorations/vibe are first rate and make me feel like I just stepped into a Blue Oyster Cult album art exhibit. Come here – you will NOT be disappointed.

  My husband goes here for his beard trims and has had a wonderful experience every time; but I wanted to write a review solely to praise the lovely and wonderful Miss Ashley Fordham. My son has a number of sensory issues, so when we walked in today, his hair was 3 inches past his shoulders and uncombed. I gave her a brief explanation of his triggers and then sat back and waited to see how far we would get before I had to call it and leave.

  She was so kind and careful and attentive. She checked in with him so many times that he never had the chance to get in a weird headspace. She gave him a dozen opportunities to take breaks, de-itch, move around, and I cannot overstate what a huge difference it made.

  Jake’s Place has been a staple since the 2000s. I started going there in 2007 because I wanted a great quality haircut, as well as all the other bells and whistles (manicures, pedicures, brow wax, massage). They cater to a male clientele and the whole place is very classy. Quality is what you’re going to get here.

  I left Hampton Roads for over 10 years and I’m glad it is still open. Though my original stylist has been long gone, I have to give a 5/5 stars to my new stylist, Ariana. She has been taking care of all my spa needs and is always great to have a conversation with. I’m to the point now where I just sit in the chair and get an amazing haircut without having to explain what I want and this is something I value.

  Excellent place. Everyone there is top notch, the barbers are all incredibly talented (especially Lindsey). I love to treat myself to a hot shave every so often, and it’s absolutely amazing. I won’t go anywhere else for a haircut.

  I have been going to Jake’s Place for the about the last six years, and I have almost exclusively worked with Katrina. I would not trust anyone else to cut my hair or provide me with a beard trim. She is incredibly skilled. I don’t know how she does such good work while also being so efficient. Katrina has gone from being a trusted barber to a close friend. Jake’s Place is incredibly lucky to have her as a part of the team.

  I had an awesome experience. I have psoriasis on my scalp… gross, I know. It makes me avoid haircuts like they’re the equivalent of a root canal. However, my barber whom I only know by CashApp name $kittyrawwr (seriously feel free to send her all of your money). She made me feel so comfortable, cut like 8 inches of hair off of me, and trimmed my haggard-@$$ beard. Thank you, and I’m sorry I didn’t formally ask your name, apparently I forgot my manners.
