  Very torn about this place. I love the people that work there, everyone was very friendly and professional, but we just couldn’t seem to get my color right. 😔 I have blonde hair and my new highlight touch-ups came out orange. I went back a second time and it was a small improvement but still looks brassy and orange. I loved my hair before I went and now I’m just trying to figure out how to fix it. I went to another place but was quoted $350 to fix the color and I just can’t spend that much. I saw another post claiming something similiar. My suggestion, if you are going for blonde, I would try somewhere else. Just a little let down as I am getting extensions put in in a couple weeks and my hair color is a disaster.

  Eliot was a really great stylist and easy to talk to. I got about 4-6 inches taken off my curly hair to make an angled bob style. Bishops is very reasonably priced and the shop is a burst of color with many things to look at while you’re getting a haircut. I love that the stylists have decorated their stations and mirrors with stickers. I’ll definitely come back

  First time coming to Bishops was great! I haven’t gotten my hair done in a while, and so I decided to try out a new place for my birthday pampering. Jewels was awesome!! I booked the appointment next day, which is great for me since I am very last minute. Definitely found my new spot and will be back to see my girl J!

  First time at Bishops and will not be my last! I’ve found my new go-to! The staff was nice and outgoing. They’re professional, personable & know what they’re doing. I booked my appointment with Casey- had a Long Cut / Add K18 Molecular Repair Treatment / Add Style done and I LOVE it! She’s very knowledgeable and makes sure you walk out of there feeling happy & confident in your new look. I’m excited to have my Balayage done by her next week!

  Asked for a drop fade and an inch off the top.. looks like I got a medium to high normal fade and 2.5 inches off my hair.. length was down to my mouth now it’s at my eyebrow level. Won’t be coming back. On top of a part of the fade that’s not even blended in.. won’t be coming back. Not even close to what I wanted. Seems like she just did whatever she wanted with my hair for her liking

  Upon walking in this establishment I knew I was going to get the best haircut and service in the state of Virginia. I had a lot of things that needed to be fixed with my hairline and beard. Aurelius was the barber that took care of me. If I could give you more stars I would. The precision that he used was unparalleled, he really took his time to make me look good for the holidays. Many barbers consider it a regular job but Aurelius knows that it is an art, and he really displayed that while cutting my hair.

  My son is fresh to the area and a college kid to boot. He scheduled an appoint for a haircut and overslept. He wanted a cut for a job interview and yes oversleeping was his fault. However, he was charged a no show fee for the whole cut. Thirty bucks! He’s a college kid for goodness sakes. As a freshman he doesn’t have a car and this shop was in walking distance. In the future please don’t do college kids like this. Charge a fee absolutely but give a bit of grace. As a mom I would sincerely appreciate that!

  Vibes inside the shop were excellent, very relaxed. Almost fell asleep a few times during my cut. Aurelius did a phenomenal job. Military cut, 12/10 Would recommend.

  If you want a cut done right with attention to details, time and care put in with passion, you have to come through to Taylors. I had a great service done by one of their artists “Mikhail Norrell” and I guarantee this mans will put the love he has for cutting hair into whatever style you appeal for.

  I came in for a cut with a hot mess of problems. When Dot was done with me, I felt completely relaxed, refreshed, and ready to take on the world! Dot is a professional barber, business person, and all around good hearted person. I will be going back to Refuge for Men from now on and will recommend to anyone looking for a fresh cut!
  Dot not only listened to what I wanted in a haircut, but also provided moral support, words of wisdom, artistic design, and genuine care.   After my previous barber/stylist retired and moved to Mexico, I started seeing Dot and can say with strong confidence she gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve had in my entire life. Took the time to ask me exactly what I wanted, and after showing her several pictures of the styles I was after and explaining the differences between them, gave me the perfect disconnected undercut with top length I was after! I’ll be there every 2-3 weeks for a trim for sure!

  The best in all of Richmond. Their new “location” is at the same place, but only upstairs now. My personal recommendation for a cut is Dot. She will never disappoint you, delivering the same quality cut each and every time you visit. Once you’ve gone you won’t be able to go anywhere else.   $90 after tip for a mens haircut and beard shape up by what seemed to be an apprentice. Asymmetrical beard and stash and didn’t take much off the top (if any). Regardless, I like the folks at Refuge and will go back.
