  1. This is one of the best most well run and clean animal shelters I’ve ever been to. So much so I just Adopted a kitten from here. The staff is very friendly, very knowledgeable and can tell they truly care about these animals. I cannot say enough truly amazing things about this facility and their staff. Truly amazing in every way.

  2. This place is so great! If you’re looking to adopt, come here first. A few years ago, I went here and they were super honest about every cat I was interested in. They genuinely want you to keep your pet and love your pet as is. They described a cat I was most interested in as “sweet,” and they were right. My cat is still so sweet.

  3. The cats and kittens are so adorable there! I’m so glad they were open so I could walk in because other shelters ask for appointments when adopting a pet. The service is great! Clean place, cats seem to be comfortable there, the staff is friendly and it didn’t take too long to adopt the kitten. Happy to say I’m the proud mother of little Tobias!

    I went and dropped off 3 baby kittens on Mon and the people there were sooo friendly and caring. I had them overnight and fed and held them, so dropping them off was a little emotional for me. But due to the way I was welcomed and treated I know all 3 babies will find great loving homes.

    Came in today for my fur’shepard’s microchip, license/ breaders permit. Everyone was fantastic. Helpful. It took about 15 mins. Look online and have all needed documents before coming.

    My dog got herself lost and picked up by lapd which brought her here. Thankyou so much lapd, i plan to thank them in person. I went to the shelter to get my dog and after showing a ton of pictures proved she was mine. She hadnt been chipped yet. To get her without spaying cost $430 and with a spaying was 132. I told them my financial situation and without a hesitation they mentioned a group that could assist me, Downtown Dog Rescue. DDR covered the cost and the shelter did the spaying, as well as microchipping, vaccinations, and license. All at no charge to me. Every single employee was helpful, friendly and had a genuine concern for the well being of my dog and all the others. I cannot praise them enough. The one issue i had was that i didnt have a current ID. Its in the process now and they could have given me a “sucks to be you” answer, they offered an option that was reasonable and attainable so everything went through. Thankyou LA Animal Services, your professionalism was not lost on me and I Thankyou and my dog also thanks you. I would like to learn more about how to volunteer at your shelter as the least i can do for encountering such a well run group. Ive had nothing but negative experiences with shelters in the past so to see one that is doing things the right way made me happy. Every chance Ive had, ive told others about how well this shelter is run. First pic is the moment i picked her up after being spayed and the other is her fully healed and on a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard to see one of her favorite stars, Lassie.

    I adopted my my little baby Kiki here.when I got her she was skinny and scared and now she’s all chunky and adorable.I wish I could get all the animals here.come adopt here these animals deserve homes

    I had found a stray walking in traffic today and couldn’t take him home due to already having three dogs. I decided to take him to the shelter. On the way I had called and I wasn’t relieved that the recorded voice message of the animal shelter on 60th street said that’s Thursday so were one of the the days an appointment was not needed. Wynn a representative answered I explained the situation and asked if they would accept him in and I was told they definitely would. Come to getting to the shelter I asked someone with a volunteer shirt where I can turn in the stray she pointed me to the public animal receiving window where I was greeted by a Man. He asked for an Id and handed me a leash and blanket to get the dog out of the car. Upon returning to the window with the dog there was a lady telling me she can not take the dog today and I have to make an appointment. After back and forth Thankfully she agreed to take him this time but reminded me in the future to make an appointment if I find a stray. The thing is though I felt like I was doing something right seeing as I was assured the shelter take in the dog, but I hadn’t ever done this before so the fact that everyone at the shelter isn’t on the same page was very confusing and with the lady being assertive possibly but came off passive aggressive and was giving me the wrong message of if I see a stray to just leave it be if I can’t hold it? I hope people don’t get discouraged from helping an animal because of something like this but I’m very understanding anyways

    We visited the shelter to adopt another rescue dog. We found a beautiful mix we are in love with! The shelter was full of dogs… Especially, huskies… And when I asked one of the workers why they had so many huskies, they answered… GAME OF THRONES… Made me sick to my stomach. I wish I could have adopted all of them. What are people thinking? The shelter was clean and the people working there were kind. I would have given five stars but the checkout process took over 2 hours. That was ridiculous. We literally stood in line that long! I do recommend the shelter and really hope that anyone thinking about getting a new dog will visit the shelter before a breeder or pet shop. These poor animals need love and homes.

    Within minutes of arriving at the shelter, I had a volunteer helping me decide which dogs would best fit my lifestyle. I saw the volunteers treat the animals with respect and care. Obviously a city shelter will have a lot of dogs and the kennels were definitely all full, but I could tell that the shelter was full of good people doing their best for the animals under their care. I adopted a beautiful mixed breed, and was given all the documents and advice I needed to start her off on the right foot!

    I’ve been coming here for, jeez, decades. It’s had ups and downs. Look, the City of Van Nuys, especially near Van Nuys Blvd., is kind of depressing. There are nuts and creeps everywhere you look. Not the kind of place you’d expect the charitable work of a Shelter to take place. But they carry on. They plod on courageously, despite the sadness that surrounds this facility. My complaint, if any, is that they can get a bit grumpy. Wouldn’t you? Yet, just the same, they feed and tend and love every animal that enters the facility. I blame the neighborhood for this place even being necessary. The poverty, the congestion, the drugs, and the gangs – all contribute to a general malaise. Boredom. Sadness. So save one of God’s little creatures. Visit the East Valley Animal Shelter. You can do God’s work, too. I have.

    2 months ago I got 2 kittys from the shelter they were bonded boys and their names were Salt & Peppa. The beginning of Jan I had to return them becuz I was going back east to help with ill parent. Returning those 2 kitties was my worst day ever. I went back 3-4 days later becuz I wanted them back and realized they were my only friends and I miss & love them very much. They had been already adopted. My heart was and still is crushed and I would love them back home with me. I had made a quick & terrible decision and would be so thankful if the person who has them now would return them to me. They gave me purpose and now regretfully I have nothing and feel sad & lonely. Don’t have to move back east any longer so getting them back would be the best day ever.

    This shelter is really good! I have adopted 3 cats from here and the process was quick and very inexpensive. They really help you If you have old newspapers, or blankets, or comforters, please donate them! And if you need help with food for your cat or dog, they give out free food every Sunday from 1 to 4.
