  1. Made an appointment for small dogs, very clean with friendly helpers, complete print out on history and health report. Found two I was interested and was able to take them outside. We found our new fur baby, she is so sweet and gentle. The staff was very pleasant and easy to work with. They are very reasonable and make sure the pet has been checked out, shots, teeth cleaning, microchip, ears & nails. If a problems you are informed upfront. The staff also makes sure all paperwork is complete and accurate. They even called back a few days later to see how things were going and if the microchip had been changed to our name and our vet had been contacted.
    We can’t say enough good things about our experience. We have always raised our pets from babies. But there are so many pets who need forever homes we decided to go with SPCA FL and we are si glad we did! We have enclosed a picture of Gidget.

  2. I adopted Kitty even though we were worried about her not making friends with any staff at SPCA. After sitting with her for about half an hour and giving her some treats(still didn’t come all the way to me) and talking to her as we were working with her I asked her if she wanted to go home with us and she blinked her eyes at me so then is when I knew she was ready to go with us. After one day in my office room where she could watch us and then another day exploring the whole house she then started loving on us and has been every since. Mary has been in touch with us and I sent her pictures of our progress (she is now a lap cat) and she went the extra mile of caring about Kitty and our status with her. The staff were all wonderful. This is my second kitty from SPCA. I had Ms Priss for seventeen years and now we have Kitty to love on for the rest of her years. Thank you SPCA

  4. I got my dog Ellie from SPCA in Lakeland. She is an amazing dog and we couldn’t be happier with her. Everything they said about her was on the money which made adjusting her training so much easier. They take such good care of their dogs and it shows. The facilities are clean and you can tell the staff are animal lovers. I left with paperwork detailing behavior and medical history of my new pup. I would highly recommend that you look into Lakeland SPCA if you are looking to adopt.

  5. It was fate! I was in Polk county to see a puppy available at the animal shelter which unfortunately for me was adopted before I arrived from Port Saint Lucie. They were very helpful in letting me know that the SPCA was 10 miles down the road and I should call to see if they had another puppy for adoption. After sitting with and getting to know Choco now Ava, it was definitely fate. SPCA made the adoption process very straightforward and smoothly. Every since I brought Ava home she’s been fun, loving energetic and more and more overcoming some of her shyness. She has tons of toys and is spoiled daily. Loves to go on walks and play with our other family pet Charlie. She’s now 6 months old and has seen our vet twice. Once for her initial visit and now for a bug bite she got on her paw which we’re told not to be concerned and is on medication spray but doesn’t seem to bother her. She’s such a joy to be a part of our lives.

    I was very impressed with their fish department. Fish selection was so so but I was not there for that. Their selection of tanks was huuuge. They had tons of the kind of fish keeping hobbyists stuff we would want to buy. I took some photos and will be posting them. I was concerned about driving here because it is quite far for me. Closer to me Petco in Brandon, FL never has 75 gallon aquariums in stock so I took a giant leap of faith and first time in 16 years decided to visit this one. To my luck they had a spare one to sell. I ordered one online and another one I got when I was at the store. So to get you an idea… where I live I have 3 petsmarts with iffy fishkeeping selections and 2 petsupermarkets with so so on the iffy side selections. It was very surprising what a pet store ought to look like in terms of things I would need. They had tools and filter media and different gawidgets and thingamagigs. They had the lot. Looks like I will be adding this store on my very short list of “worth visiting” stores.

    Purchased 3 fish, one died 7 days later. Per policy we returned the fish to be hassled that we didn’t bring water from the tank and they wouldn’t let us get another fish until we proved our tank water was good. The other 2 dish are doing great! Manager didn’t come talk to us only used walkie with cashier and had her ask question. Guess we were important enough to come speak to us in person. Especially since my son is DEAF and it would have been nice for the one on one. there is nothing on the website about bringing in the water. Our son doesn’t drive and lives over 30 minutes away so that would have cost us extra in gas and time to do it. There is nothing on the website about bringing the water nor do they give you anything to put it in when you purchase the fish. When we bought the fish the associate dropped one fish on the floor and put back into the tank. So who knows if that fish had been trama or been injured. Only plus side is they did give him back a full refund.

    I have recently bought two fish from this location and both have died in under 24 hours. Though the fish seem fine in the cups, there must be something wrong with them if they are not surviving in a well cycled 5 gallon tank.

    I was questioned by Jose and Albert about the size of my fish tank (15 gallon) and can only buy one fish but other customers wasn’t questioned about their tanks. Other customer simply advised Jose of what fish she wanted and he gave it to them with no questioning about the size of their tank. I will never go back. I will take my business where I should have went to begin with…Darrell’s Aquarium. Jose refused to even give me ANY fish until Albert gave him the ok which he didn’t. The BIG picture is NO ONE ELSE wasn’t questioned.. embarrassing. I will be calling corporate and the manager was nonchalant about it. Very poor customer service. If I could give 0 stars, I would because they don’t deserve 1 star!

    Took my husky to get groomed here for the second time instead of Petco where I usually take her. First groomer we had here was amazing so I thought I would bring her here again, unfortunately today will be the very last time I ever bring her to get groomed at Petsmart or to Petsmary at all. She has been getting groomed every 2-3 month since she was six months old. She is now 2 and never have I ever had anyone shave her anywhere besides her paw pads. I wish I would have noticed this when I was in the store but I didn’t catch it until hours after I was home. My husky was shaved underneath in her gential area. I am aware that this is done for some dogs but huskies should NEVER be shaved since they have sensitive skin. I should have been asked before this was done and it was never brought up to me. Not to mention it was a poorly done gential shave even if she was another breed, the shave even went to her side. I tried to call the store twice about this and no one answered the phone. I am very ashamed that I let this happen to her.

    We took our 2 year old beagle in this afternoon for just a nail term. She went back and we sat watching through the glass. The lady that took her back “had to get someone else, because our dog was “All over the table” and “she can’t cut her nails” (main you we were still watching though the window… and yes if you call a friendly dog wagging her tail “all over the place” then yes you could say that) then asked “if she ever got her nails cut” and that we should probably take her to ______ they could probably handle her better” the guy that took over came over with our dog and said “I didn’t really cut a lot of her nails she was trying to bite me”…. I’ve never seen any place have such rude and just down right unprofessional people working. I’ve also never seen such untrained people hired to work with animals…. we will continue to take have to her vet office to get her nails termed etc. and will never take her to a box pet store that clearly don’t hire the right animal educated people to physically handle the animals that come in.

    Nice products in the store but wish they had different size cages available in store. Staff was nice. Price was good on the cage since it was on sale. Would not have paid the regular price of 200 for it.

    This place was great! Employees were very friendly and knowledgeable about all my needs. It’s handicap ♿️ friendly. The rest room were clean too. Only downfall is? There are no discounts for veterans. Why?
