What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. We always stop at Perkins restaurants on our road trips from Maryland to the Twin Cities. The 55-plus menu is great with very good food at very reasonable prices. Our experience at the Perkins in South Bend was great. Our waiter was friendly and did a wonderful job in serving us making sure everything was in order and kept our glasses filled.

  2. Very disappointed from my most recent visit. It started on a Saturday night with a hold on the phone for a carry out order for 10mins. No one throughout that time picked up the phone to let me know it was busy and they hadn’t forgotten about me. I never got ahold of anyone after I was put on hold so I hung up and ordered online.

I got to the restaurant and a very nice young girl help me also buy some muffins. I grabbed my food and took it home.

When I got home, I found that my soup was very small and container was slightly bent up. I also noticed my pie was completely melted. The potatoes had gravy and we ordered them without. I called to let them know that my $5 soup was very small and my pie was melted. They said the soup was the right size and they could not refund the pie because I bought it through their online ordering site! I only ordered online because of the 10 min hold. They said I would replace it but that I had to come all the way back to the store.

Here’s the worst part and the biggest reason I took the time to write my review. My poor sick boyfriend went to close up the soup I got him to help him feel better and the container EXPLODED. Soup was everywhere. Not only was it expensive for not a lot of soup but they didn’t even put it in a good container! Well, I guess at least there wasn’t as much soup to clean up.

Anyway the only reason it’s not a 1 star is the muffins were awesome and the young girl was nice. The older lady was unhelpful and unempathetic.

  3. So to start, we say for almost ten minutes before anyone even came to get our order. I understand places are short staffed, as I own a bar, but at least come over and let me know you see us there and someone will be over as soon as they can. Then, we give our drink and food order so they don’t have to come back twice to get our orders, then we never see her again for reills nothing. My dish I ordered comes with onions, the pot roast stroganoff, which I love and get every time I am near a Perkins, but this place served it horribly. I have never tasted anything so bad. Onions where an after thought, cold and just thrown in the dish, it was dry and zero flavor. I had to hunt someone down to order a piece of pie, which was amazing, but as you can see by the picture that’s how it came out. The waitress just lightly tossed it on table with no explanation as to why my piece looks like that. For all I knew, it fell on the floor and they just scrapped it up, who knows. After really inspecting it, I decided to try it. I will never stop at this one again. Oh and beat part, as I’m paying the manager asks me how everything was I said not good at all. She never says another word to me at all. Doesn’t why etc. I will still go to any other Perkins as I have never had such an awful experience.

  4. Great staff and customer service. I had the chicken biscuit breakfast and then came back for the soup and sandwich combo. Dessert was crazy too. Thank you Perkins for a great dining experience 🙌

  5. I love Perkins. The food is always great and their bakery items are delicious. Also their pancakes are so flavorful and made perfectly every time. My friend and I enjoy the fact we can sit and catch up without being rushed or made to feel like we have overstayed our welcome.

Pup friendly, relaxed, nice atmosphere for family or intimate meal. My son enjoyed the BBQ sandwich and I the tequila lime pizza. We split the dough bites with the spinach sauce. Food was excellent, service was less than good. Our server may have been having an off day.

We went here for dinner with the family (5 of us). It seemed at first that they were short headed as we waited for quite a while before anyone stopped to take our order. Luckily Natalie stopped and took wonderful care of us. I had the rigatoni chicken, it was wonderful, I’d highly recommend.

My wife and I have been trying out restaurants we’ve never been to before and today was the day we tried The Lauber. We arrived around noon and was promptly greeted and seated. Taylor was our server and she attended to us immediately. We both ordered “The Lauber” burger. It was huge but we both managed to finish it. It was a delicious burger! The restaurant itself was clean and had a very laid-back vibe to it. Staff was excellent.

Visiting town and needed to grab some lunch so swung into The Lauber. It’s a slow time of day so the food came out really quick. On the downside, our fries were stone cold and we didn’t love the taste of the BBQ sauce on the pizza. We’d come back if ever in the area again, it wasn’t bad, also wasn’t a 5 star experience.

Great service, great atmosphere, great food, great drinks! Husband and I went here for a later lunch; was our first time visiting here. The pomegranate margarita wasn’t very good but they replaced it with a lime one and it was WAY BETTER! Food was delicious! He ordered a burger with bacon and over medium egg with fries and a Long islands iced tea, I ordered the prime rib sandwich with fries! Absolutely delicious! We will definitely be returning!

Small but tasty. Small. But tasty. Honestly if you’re in South Bend, you should really visit this place. However, my Crab Cake Benedict was tasty but the crab part was too salty and too dry. This city is not famous for good food but you’ll be happy with this one. The place is nice, pretty, clean enough. The service is good. They don’t have plants. But it’s nice to be here.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday brunch here! Our waitress did a fabulous job explaining the history of the building and of course, the menu. We ended up ordering shareable dishes – the Belgian Waffles and the Sunday quiche. We also got mimosas. Definitely go enjoy a meal here when you’re in South Bend and take a ride on the elevator too – the oldest elevator in Indiana and the 2nd oldest in the US!

This is a beautiful piece of history with a delicious resturant and awesome brewery included. We went for dinner and we’re really impressed. The baked brie made me fall out of my seat and the Studebaker cut prime rib made me shake my feet in the air as I was on the floor. I tried one sour beer from the brewery, which was unexpectedly amazing. I wish I had the opportunity to try another beer. Excellent service and a beautiful home filled with history. Doesn’t get better than that!

Main entree was delicious. For $115 (1 drink each, Appetizer and 2 meals) I’d like to see the waitstaff dress code to match the price point of this restaurant. Staff also need to keep workplace issues outside of customer view (they were arguing loudly in the main lobby). Nice building, rich in history, small improvements needed to restaurant.

Really good food. We had a great waitress that answer all of our questions of some of the meals before ordering. They have a good selection of craft beers. They allow you to visit the rest of the restaurant-house. I recommend you do that so you can learn more about the local history.
