a month agoThe beach is absolutely gorgeous. I was a little worried coming here on vacation from Kansas cause of some of the info I have seen about the beach and island. Saying it’s horrible basically….. No it’s not! It’s so pretty and laid back here. In my opinion for the price and the small town feel, it’s worth coming here over a crazy expensive packed beach town. (Also there are very few tourist here, so its not like many other beach towns I have been to. Where everyone is on top of each other, and getting mad) is the water crystal clear… No, but it’s not nasty or anything.2 months agoThis beach in Galveston is a fantastic destination for families looking to have fun and relax in Texas. This beach has everything you need for an enjoyable day out, including soft sand, clear water, and plenty of space to spread out and relax. The beach is family-friendly and offers a variety of activities such as volleyball, sandcastle building, and beachcombing.
The beach also has many amenities to make your stay more comfortable, including showers, restrooms, and picnic areas. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, so you can grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink. Additionally, the beach offers a variety of water sports such as jet skiing, parasailing, and paddle boarding.

2 weeks agoWe had a good time at Surfside. We were here during the week in the end of June. It’s super hot but once you get down to the beach if you put up shade and play in the water it’s fine. Warm water, super nice fine sand. Good waves for body surfing, boogey boarding etc. If you drive a car in the beach it’s easy to get stuck. Don’t give it too much gas or you will dig yourself in a whole. We had some of our group drive and some of us walked from the air bnb. It was a lot of fun. We had a group of 24 that spent 3 whole days in the beach. My young daughter got stung 2 times by a jelly fish (really bad luck). Only one other person got stung during that time. If you don’t have meds or a warm shower to treat it (like a nearby air bnb) it could be problematic. Not sure if there are always so many jellies or not.5 months agoLocated an hour away from Houston, Surfside beach is a perfect gateaway for beach goers and for people who does fishing and Surfing.Surfside beach is clean and well maintained with plenty of trash cans along, and portable toilet. On summertime it does get full and packed with people enjoying its coarse white sandy beach.
The beach is also a great place to view and witness birds especially on bird migration time in Spring and Fall season.
All in all, I always enjoyed Surfside beach no matter what time of season it is!
a month agoWe had fun! I wish we had been able to spend more time there exploring. We were able to buy ice at the convenience store which is just a block from the beach. It was very windy so we did not put up the canopy we took, but we saw other people who had used weights to hold theirs down. A nice man told us about the rip tide, so we were careful about where we swam and how far out the kids were. I always over-pack, lol. We took a wagon and could have gotten away with just taking the wagon with a cooler for drinks, a bag for towels and 3 cans of sunscreen for 4 of us, sand toys, and a few chairs. We were only there for a few hours.

a month agoParked right on the beach (there were a lot of cars side by side but there was always plenty of parking spots and beach space). Set up our stuff right by our car. Plenty of trash cans and porta potties. Really clean beach. Not far from main areas of Galveston.
Update: One year later, still an awesome and clean beach. Got there at about 1:40pm on a Wednesday (June 14, 2023). There were a lot of vehicles but we still saw several spaces right by the water. Set up our blue beach tent and never once felt crowded.

You can drive the car all the way to the water.in the last weekNot the most beautiful beach, but we love it here.Because it’s so convenient to be able to drive and park on the beach. So bring your tent, cooler, drinks, chairs, grill, foods, water sports equipments…everything, and it’s free.
It wasn’t crowded, we had so much fun. It was so relaxing.
a month agoIt’s summer time and starting to be crowded. I just wish people would be more considerate. We are trying to sit and enjoy the view, but people just come and stand right in getting off you, blocking it. Even putting up chairs and umbrellas… Right in getting off your spot. Just have more consideration for the others. Don’t come late and just jump in front of everyone. At one point a stranger was walking up beside/between the vehicles while we were in the water. He was looking inside our vehicles. Be cautious. Be kind. Be considerate.a month agoBest beach in Galveston yo hang out out. Easy access to this beach.

What an experience!! I recently broke my leg at the beach and then I included going back to beach as part of my recovery. It’s been a long journey and I still have a long road ahead of me, but I walk by faith! I chose to go back over there with my husband to walk on the jetty for the very first time and I have absolutely no regrets! The big rocks at the end of the jetty though were challenging for me, but anyone with two legs that can walk would enjoy everything about this place. We got to see porpoises swimming along with ship and got to enjoy seeing all the fisherman posted up along the jetty. It’s great to see couples and families enjoying this place. The seagulls are very entertaining, too. You won’t regret visiting this place. If you want to barbeque, there’s pits there. If you want to sit down and rest after walking all the way down the jetty and back, there’s picnic tables to relax. If you want to fish, you are able to. Just be careful at the very end where the big boulders are, especially kiddos. Hold their hands so they don’t fall in between the cracks. Watch out for spiders lol!! 😂 If there’s people behind you and you want to enjoy walking a bit slower, let them pass and show kindness. Enjoy the Jetty!
Super great place for fishing. Never have I’ve gone home without a fish. Clean and plenty of trash cans available. Also a great place for family events. Cover patios and grills available for burgers or live catches? A must for true fishermen.
Great place to fish. There’s plenty of room, even when there is a crowd and there are rod holders in some places (best to bring your own). There’s plenty of parking and restrooms are available. I wish Quintana and Galveston would follow suit and level the top of their jetties so bank fishermen could walk out there, too. Grab some sun block, a hat, chair, and fishing gear. Good times!
I went here for my uncles bday and it was nice!The sand was nice and clean and the water was clean but really cold.I built a sand castle with no one destroying it👍
This is a great place to good it was not too crowded. I think I would want to make a weekend of it. Not just a day.
