What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Located an hour away from Houston, Surfside beach is a perfect gateaway for beach goers and for people who does fishing and Surfing.

Surfside beach is clean and well maintained with plenty of trash cans along, and portable toilet. On summertime it does get full and packed with people enjoying its coarse white sandy beach.

The beach is also a great place to view and witness birds especially on bird migration time in Spring and Fall season.

All in all, I always enjoyed Surfside beach no matter what time of season it is!

  2. This beach in Galveston is a fantastic destination for families looking to have fun and relax in Texas. This beach has everything you need for an enjoyable day out, including soft sand, clear water, and plenty of space to spread out and relax. The beach is family-friendly and offers a variety of activities such as volleyball, sandcastle building, and beachcombing.

The beach also has many amenities to make your stay more comfortable, including showers, restrooms, and picnic areas. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, so you can grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink. Additionally, the beach offers a variety of water sports such as jet skiing, parasailing, and paddle boarding.

Overall, the beach in Galveston is a great choice for families looking to spend a day in the sun, relax, and have fun. The beach has something for everyone, and the beautiful scenery and laid-back atmosphere make it the perfect destination for a family vacation.

  3. The beach is absolutely gorgeous. I was a little worried coming here on vacation from Kansas cause of some of the info I have seen about the beach and island. Saying it’s horrible basically….. No it’s not! It’s so pretty and laid back here. In my opinion for the price and the small town feel, it’s worth coming here over a crazy expensive packed beach town. (Also there are very few tourist here, so its not like many other beach towns I have been to. Where everyone is on top of each other, and getting mad) is the water crystal clear… No, but it’s not nasty or anything.

  4. We had fun! I wish we had been able to spend more time there exploring. We were able to buy ice at the convenience store which is just a block from the beach. It was very windy so we did not put up the canopy we took, but we saw other people who had used weights to hold theirs down. A nice man told us about the rip tide, so we were careful about where we swam and how far out the kids were. I always over-pack, lol. We took a wagon and could have gotten away with just taking the wagon with a cooler for drinks, a bag for towels and 3 cans of sunscreen for 4 of us, sand toys, and a few chairs. We were only there for a few hours.

  5. We had a good time at Surfside. We were here during the week in the end of June. It’s super hot but once you get down to the beach if you put up shade and play in the water it’s fine. Warm water, super nice fine sand. Good waves for body surfing, boogey boarding etc. If you drive a car in the beach it’s easy to get stuck. Don’t give it too much gas or you will dig yourself in a whole. We had some of our group drive and some of us walked from the air bnb. It was a lot of fun. We had a group of 24 that spent 3 whole days in the beach. My young daughter got stung 2 times by a jelly fish (really bad luck). Only one other person got stung during that time. If you don’t have meds or a warm shower to treat it (like a nearby air bnb) it could be problematic. Not sure if there are always so many jellies or not.

How to Beachcomb with Your Family

Here are some tips for families beachcombing:

  1. Go at low tide. This is when the most beach is exposed and you’re more likely to find interesting things.
  2. Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be doing a lot of walking, so make sure your feet are comfortable.
  3. Bring a bag or bucket to collect your finds. You can also bring a magnifying glass to get a closer look at things.
  4. Be on the lookout for seashells, seaweed, driftwood, and other marine life. You may also find sea glass, coins, and other interesting objects.
  5. Teach your children about the different things they find. This is a great way to learn about the marine environment.
  6. Make it a game. See who can find the most seashells or the biggest piece of driftwood.
  7. Be respectful of the environment. Leave no trace and don’t collect anything that is alive.
  8. Have fun! Beachcombing is a great way to spend time with your family and explore the natural world.

Here are some additional tips for families beachcombing with young children:

  • Choose a beach that is safe for children. Look for a beach with shallow water and soft sand.
  • Bring plenty of snacks and drinks. Beachcombing can be tiring, so make sure your children are well-fed and hydrated.
  • Bring a change of clothes. Children are likely to get sandy and wet, so be prepared to change them when you’re done.
  • Take breaks often. Beachcombing can be a lot of fun, but it can also be tiring for young children. Take breaks often to rest and play.
  • Be patient. It may take some time for children to find interesting things. Encourage them to keep looking and be patient.

Beachcombing is a great way for families to have fun and learn about the natural world. By following these tips, you can make your beachcombing experience safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Bring $12 cash and you can return to park on the beach anytime for that calendar year! Super affordable, and it makes it easy to take stuff from your car to the beach. The beach is also well kept and clean. However, there are no bathrooms. This is perfect for a day trip.

As a venezuelan l was waiting since 3 months ago (lm new here at Texas) to go to a beach, not to compare with our beaches, but to enjoy the sun, the atmosphere, family gathering. We had planned exercise and stay about three hours, but we were about 6hours. We love the place, how well organized the parking lot, the place to stay, restrooms available, stores to buy what you need, and other services.

Great day-drive getaway from Houston. Easy to park. A great family atmosphere. Bring your own snacks and drinks and beach gear. (blankets, umbrella, and chairs)

The only restrooms available are a few Porta Potties.

Easily the best beach in the Southeast Texas part of the coast. The water is much nicer than Galveston, and the sand is too. It’s less crowded than most other beaches and you can get a beach parking pass for $12 (for the entire year) which allows you to drive on the beach, park and hang out for the day.

This is the best beach we’ve been to in Texas! They keep the beach clean. There are porta potties down the beach which is nice when needed. You are allowed to drive and park on dune side of beach, which makes it nice for people to be able to unload their beach chairs, etc and not have to trudge thru sand too far. This beach gets much less sargassum than nearby Galveston. There’s a couple of restaurants on the beach to grab a meal without having to pack up and leave your beach spot. Police does patrol and keeps an eye out to ensure everyone’s safety. You’ll need to purchase a $12 annual beach pass at a convience store nearby and then no other daily fees like you’ll find at Galveston. There are beach houses you can rent.

We love Surfside! Our favorite beach! It’s always ean and the people are friendly.

We love taking our Jeep down and taking the doors and top off and cruising around on the beach enjoying the fresh air, sunshine and nice breezes and the refreshing cool water.

It’s a really crowded beach got there at 9:30 was already pretty packed. In the afternoon it was even worst our tent got surrounded by cars which needed someone to move their car to be able to get out. The sand is silky smooth, yet the water is muddy and not clear. It’s a family hangout beach and remember to put sunscreen or it’s really burning after you get home.
