1. Words can’t describe want my experience was with Paradise and my technician Thomas M. Exceptional comes to mind! On September 9 I was trying to remove my water cartridge on my Delta Faucet. As you can tell by my pictures, it didn’t go so well. My water was shut off so this was an emergency situation. I called three (3) local plumbing companies that I have used in the past, all 3 said it would be a few days or longer. Then my next call was to Paradise, they could not have been more understanding. Thomas was here in about an hour. This was not an emergency for them, the owner just told me he didn’t want anyone without water for days. He squeezed me in when he didn’t need to. The work Thomas did was outstanding! This is definitely my go to plumbing company from now on. Even signed up for their maintenance program where they come out twice a year and check all water functions. From the Receptionist, ,Owner and Thomas, everyone couldn’t have been more professional.

3. Bottom line up front: I cannot recommend this company for anything but the most basic installs…good technicians that are poorly managed.

   Insanely long version follows:

   I’ll start by acknowledging that I live in an old condo with small dimensions and tight spaces. This made this install a bit more challenging. Additionally, I am not the owner, I am the renter. I split time between staying at home (Shalimar) and my girlfriend’s house (Navarre). I made it clear early on, with the owner and Paradise Home Services (PHS), that my presence for services would likely require me to drive from Navarre.

   Moving on…the AC fan on the outside unit died. The owner had PHS come out for a repair estimate. Charles showed up, decided the unit was not reparable and the entire AC system had to be replaced due to its age. He said he would send the owner an estimate. He took no measurements.

   Days later, I drove to meet the AC technician to install the new system. Steve showed up with an inside unit that would not fit due to restrictions caused by the closet dimensions and the lines from the water heater. Steve verified he couldn’t do the install that day…a problem that could have been avoided if proper measurements had been done prior. PHS would have to coordinate with the condo owner to figure out how to proceed. One day wasted.

   I was informed by the condo owner that the water heater and the AC would be replaced all together to facilitate the AC install, and the AC system would be different than the one that originally wouldn’t fit.

   Several days later, I drove to meet PHS for the install. Tom, the plumber, had to remove the water heater first since its lines obstructed the AC unit. He struggled to remove the water heater, decided to try to strap a dolly around it to pull it out, and wound up injuring himself to the degree that warranted an ER visit. This put everything on hold, so Steve determined he couldn’t install the AC that day and he’d have to come back the next day. As I was about to leave to go back to Navarre (around 1130), I was told the replacement plumber was on the way and would be there in an hour. Four hours later I call the PHS office and was told the plumber was finishing up a job and would arrive in an hour after he wrapped up. Mike arrived after 6 pm and completed the job…he did relatively well. I was there from 8am-8pm…only half the job completed.

   The next day Steve returns at 930 (I was told 8 am by PHS) to install the AC (the same inside unit that I was told would be changed out for a smaller one). He installs the AC, encountering a few issues along the way. He did the job relatively quickly,(finishing around 2pm) doing a really good job overall. During the AC install, they noticed the water heater was leaking. PHS couldn’t send out a plumber until after 6pm. Mitch arrived a little after 6 and determined the new unit was defective and needed replacement. Shortly after, Chris joined up to assist. Mitch and Chris completed the install after 730. They did a fairly quick job; perhaps too quick, since they managed to scratch up the wall outside of the closet area.

   Overall, my experience leads me to believe PHS has good technicians that are poorly managed. Additionally, PHS seems to have manning issues and huge gaps in communication. These issues significantly impacted the time wasted and the quality of service. I am fortunate to be retired. Had this not been the case, I would have had to unnecessarily take lots of time off from work due to PHS lacking in key customer service areas.

4. I used Paradise Home Services to clean and seal my AC ducts, and to top off my insulation. The technicians were very knowledgeable and completed the job on time. The service people scheduling the job were very responsive and were able to schedule it very quickly. Their rates were also reasonable. I was amazed. A Florida contractor who showed up on time, did a good job, and had reasonable rated. I didn’t realize they actually existed. I plan on using them for my HVAC needs and will recommend them to my friends.

5. I had to replace two hot water heaters. Paradise Home Services sent Eli and Snyder to my home. I ordered new hot water heaters from Home Depot and they were delivered to my home. Eli and Snyder from Paradise Home Services came the next day. They expertly disconnected and removed the old hot water heaters. When we opened the boxes of the new hot water heaters, we discovered they were damaged in shipping. Not to worry. Because Paradise Home Services works with Home Depot, Eli and Snyder took the damaged heaters back to HD and obtained a new pair in mint condition which they installed perfectly. The whole process with exchanging the damaged hot water heaters, made the installation run into the evening. Again, no worries – Eli and Snyder stayed late to assure the job was done properly and that we did not have to go without hot water. I’m an engineer and I know when a job is well done and this was done by a professional team dedicated to customer satisfaction. The whole experience exceeded my expectations.
