- Reviews:The adoption process was very quick and easy, and the staff here are super friendly and helpful. I made a list of dogs that I wanted to potentially adopt before coming, but I also walked through all of the rooms to see all of the dogs. The place is enormous, but I think it’s worth taking your time to walk through to see them all because you never know, you might meet a dog that wasn’t originally on your radar. I eventually decided to meet Yates (now known as Axel!) and ended up adopting him. The staff did a great job of letting me know some potential issues that he had before I made my decision, such as leash reactivity, so I wasn’t caught off guard when he displayed that kind of behavior after I brought him home. He needs some training to learn some leash manners, but he’s settled in to his new home quite nicely! If you can’t adopt or foster, please consider making a donation. The facility has so many animals who need homes and awesome staff who are working hard to care for them.By Lauretta Zhao (7 months ago)Honestly this was a very spur of the moment decision. I wanted a dog and so I jumped online and started looking at them. I made a list of dogs I wanted to meet and I went! I’ll be honest Onyx was not on my list. But when I got to the shelter I sat with the adoption counselor and said I wanted a dog that was friendly with other dogs and people and wanted to be around me as much as I wanted to be around him. I met the list of dogs and I didn’t like them! We just didn’t click. Then my adoption counselor said she had a recommendation and brought out Onyx and it was love at first sight. I probably spent 2 minutes with him outside and I said that’s it I want him. I can not thank this shelter enough at how attentive they were with my wants and needs and they went out of their way to find a dog that fit my life. I’d recommend this shelter to EVERYONE.By Vanessa Kirby (11 months ago)There are lots of animals that need a forever home! Our experience was amazing when we asked to meet few dogs. We made our choice and were given some education pamphlets, treats and food to take her home. We have our appointment to have her fixed at this place as well in a couple weeks. We appreciate all the people here and how they care for the animals.By Veronica Gomez (5 months ago)As a family, we cannot recommend DeKalb County Animal Services enough. We have two adoptions from them from the last year and a half. In October of 2021 we adopted our dog who is now named Helja . They were so great to work with then, especially with this rambunctious one popping stitches and so much more. The workers were patient and always helpful. Then at the start of this year, we adopted our new cat. We had lost our senior cat and after some time, we came back to DeKalb. Freyja stole our hearts. Once again, we had such an amazing experience there. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Always ready to answer questions or even just chat about stuff. 100% will be coming back when the time calls for it!By Suzanne Talkington (5 months ago)I see why people just abandon their animals based upon how I was treated when I came in with two rabbits that were left by the side of the road. I called first to find where I should take them, all the rabbit rescues turned me away and the last resort was here. The lady on the phone said they would take them and gave me their address. When I came in, they said, “we don’t take rabbits”…..I advised them that I called first and was told to bring them and that’s that. I told them I was not taking them back because I found them, rescued them so no harm would come to them and brought them to what I thought was a safe place only to be grilled and told they wouldn’t take them! Unfortunately with behavior like this, people will do just what happened to the poor rabbits and just dump them and that’s sad. I was on my way to work then I was told I had to fill out intake papers!! And again was threatened if I didn’t, they couldn’t take them! So the alternative would of been I take them back and then what? I totally understand that the shelters are packed with animals but this could not be how this should work. It defeats the purpose and now I understand why some folks become desperate(you never know their predicament) if this is how they are treated. Experiences like this makes you hesitant about rescuing an animal because you could get stuck with them because of systems like these.By Tina Williams (4 months ago)

- Reviews:I don’t know what the heck they did to my kitten. She was spayed by them and has been sick very sick, every since. First of all she had a fever of 105.6 My paperwork said to bring her in at ANY time if she had any issues and she’s had several issues. So I brought her in over the weekend based off of their times LISTED on my paperwork and their hours. Well, do you know they had the nerve to be closed? I called and everything first. I drove a freaking hour to get there, mind you this is all while my kitten was suffering a deadly fever. When I called during their “actual business hours” the following Monday they had little to no empathy regarding the situation. I don’t play those games. They will be hearing from me and I will take legal action if need be.By Super Jane (6 months ago)My experience totally differed from most here in this review section but i surely can’t be the only one this has happened to…So my dog was being quarantined there went to pick him up 1/19/23 did all the signout paperwork paid $240 fees greeted my dog with a big hug and kiss and noticed he had a cough and couldn’t bark so asked the attendants what was wrong because he was fine when he came in there 01/09/23 and was told that he had contracted the Canine Flu from an outbreak while sheltering there 😡 now my dog is very sick and lifeless…going to vet tomorrow….they did give me antibiotics but doesn’t seem to be helping at all 😢By Tye Overstreet (5 months ago)The staff at Lifeline is very friendly and helpful and the prices can’t be beat. We are all trying to take the best care of our fur babies and it’s so great to know they are there to helps us! They were generous enough to give us a starter bag of food and toys for her. They also gave us ALL her records and history. Everyone there was so kind and caring towards my cat, very thorough with trying to get answers to what was going on, and even gave us a bag of donated prescription food to take home to help with what was going on. I had a wonderful experience with Remedy, the staff was very caring and kind. It’s never easy trust your fur babies with strangers and surgical procedures just up the anxieties all around. My puppy was well cared for and I wholeheartedly appreciate the work Remedy does!

Wow, this new Atlanta Humane Society’s newly built facility is state of the art. They have thought of everything, from hosting and educating new foster families to emergency care and treating parvo by quarantine and even child care toys while parents are adopting new pets for their new “forever home”. The place is beautiful and immaculate too. Their operating rooms for spaying and neutering are so nice that I would feel comfortable having an operation! They boast ~50 surgeries per day here. Impressive place.
I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering at the shelter, fostered for adoption and also adopted myself… and I had an amazing experience in all 3 areas. They care about their rescues so much and give these beautiful rescues the best possible chance to overcome any obstacle to get adopted by the right family. I adopted Dora a few years ago and now being 17 years old she is still going strong and I cant imagine my life without her!!
