What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Macy’s has definitely made this branch more exciting than I remember it last. It’s got pretty much everything you need, but staff are still often hard to find.
And it’s hard to shop the clothing section when the escalators aren’t working. But other than that, the store is clean and laid out well.

  2. I recently visited Macy’s in Washington DC and while it was a pleasant experience overall, I would only give it a 3-star review.

The store itself was clean and well-organized, but we weren’t greeted by anyone upon arrival. While it’s not a huge deal, it would have been nice to have a friendly face welcome us and offer assistance.

That being said, when we did need help, the associates were very friendly and willing to assist us with any questions we had. They were knowledgeable about the products and helped us find what we were looking for without any issues.

In terms of the store itself, it seemed like a normal Macy’s with a decent selection of clothing, accessories, and home goods. However, the building itself was very pretty and located in a very nice area of Washington DC.

Overall, while there were no major issues during my visit to Macy’s in Washington DC, there was nothing particularly outstanding about the experience either. It was a standard department store with friendly associates and a pretty building, but nothing that would make me rush back for another visit.

  3. Kudos to the vendor rep who found for me the exact Givenchy parfum that I needed, AND gave me a free gift, PLUS gave me St@r Money, and then I got a prize drawing entry. (If only the rest of DC would be as civilized.)

  4. Probably the most amazing department store in the US.
It has the biggest pipe organ I’m the world inside with a guy playing it. The building is amazing with an outstanding architecture.
    Totally recommended.
Yeah there is also nice sales for top brands.

  5. I was visiting from LA and once I needed to pay, there weren’t any registers to be found. When I finally found one, the associated told me he was “out to break and you got to find someone else,” I perceived attitude in his approach. I mentioned that I would if there had been anyone else available for me to pay. He , again with attitude, said, I don’t do the hiring here.” I simply lost it and I used the “F “ word . My wife talked some sense into me , and that is why I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE TO THE ASSOCIATE. I don’t have his name, but I DO hope Macy’s can deliver my apology. He ruined my very short visit to DC because I let it happen. This took place on Friday August, 25 around 2 pm. The associate is about 6′ , slim, and has died yellowish/greenish hair.

OMG! Honley-moley, the Black Friday in July sales are so bonkers-great, you can’t believe that the prices are real! With 20-80% off most, no taxes, you WILL find a bargain!! In particular the make up and perfumery, and the shoes. The stores are well lit, truely helpful and friendly staff who will search high and low to husband your shoes from the sales racks. Toilets are very clean, and the displays are very appealing. Temperature was very nice and atmosphere was vibrant.

I can’t remember when I was treated so disrespectfully as a customer. As a German tourist, I had very positive memories of Macy’s in the U.S. in terms of customer service during purchases in Chicago and St. Louis. Positive / courteous. As usual in the USA. However, what I experienced here on Monday morning, shortly after 10AM, on July 10, was a disaster! I wanted to buy Levi’s jeans pants. I expected to be asked by the sales clerk working in the Levi’s section if I needed her help. Didn’t happen. So I approached her- she was kneeling in front of a rack of jeans, and gave the impression that I was just interrupting her activity. They found the jeans they were looking for around the corner. Just look. She did not support me in my search. Then when I found pants myself, I disturbed her again to find out where the pants can try on. Unfriendly answer: Over there in the Ralph Lauren area. There I then met the next unfriendly lady ! When I asked where I could try on the pants, she just pointed to the floor with her finger behind her – without words, without looking at me. Unbelievable ! When I asked the lady in the Levi’s section after the fitting if there were price promotions / discounts if I bought several pairs of pants, she looked at me reproachfully and said: Can you read ? It says $59.99! Then she turned around and left! I then also left Macy’s and bought three Levi’s at the Levi’s store around the corner. Nice ladies work there!

A good Macy’s. Metro Accessible and pretty good parking that they validate for 90 minutes. Good to the top level out I the sunlight, there’s a crime problem on the lower levels the further you get from Macy’s. So, check it out!
