Recommend x10000By Marnasha Fowlkes (a month ago)From the estimator Charles, through the subs who drilled through our hillside, to Landon, the owner, Service Plus plumbing did a thorough, professional, cheerful, and careful replacement of our leaking main water line to the house. Everyone seemed to like their work, take challenges in stride, and were good about explaining what was to be done. Their work involved two outdoor holes in the yard to drill under the ground and monitor crossing utilities, and one through concrete in a work room attached to the house. In each case the excavated material was put in sacks or on tarps so that when they replaced these materials it was hard to see that any work had been done in that area: really remarkable! The job took a little longer than they expected but there was no change in the price we paid from the estimate. We got three estimates to start with and we picked the middle bid from Service Plus because of their superior ratings and because the estimator emphasized how thorough and careful the owner is that the work be done right. We now have no leaking water on our hillside and beautiful looking new pipe in our house to the main water line. The total cost was $7,500. I have a 100 year old Portland house and they added a disposal, replaced an old laundry sink, updated some of the plumbing and installed a new water heater. Everyone was incredibly courteous and respectful of me and my home. Last week I thought my water heater was leaking so I contacted them at 10:00 on Friday night and left a voicemail. It turns out that the water heater was just fine and it was water seeping in the basement wall near the water heater. However, the owner of the company called me first thing Saturday morning!! That type of service is incredible. I immediately told him that I made a mistake and the water heater was fine. The owner stayed on the phone with me for 15 minutes talking about flooding in Portland basements and waterproofing work. This isn’t even his business – he was just that genuinely interested in helping me!! - Reviews:tl, dr: Not cheap and 100% worth it. So happy I chose Lovett for concrete and drain work. Needed concrete and a drain replaced because water was coming down our driveway and pooling up. Also.. our basement garage wall that faces Mt. Tabor leaks. I got two quotes, Lovett was 2x the other but I went with them because I wanted it done right and… it’s concrete, you don’t get a second chance. I was so happy I did, the crew was pro and friendly. I felt confident from before they started. Jaimie was the lead, who was in touch and on site multiple times. Jeff, Mick/Nick and Diego were also great. Check the detail in the pics with the drain, the P trap has it’s own cleanout and they added a backflow preventer thingee. The company did a great job just what I wanted done but with company issues. Bid came in high but they seemed more knowledgeable so I went with them. I will give them 5 stars on work done. However! They said I needed a back-flo valve installed but when the inspector showed up he said why you have them install that your on ground level and only need those in basements??? Plumber said I had to have that or inspector wouldn’t pass it.
Bid was high for they said they may have to cut 3 different spots in the concrete. They cut one hole but a bid is a “BILL” not a bid. If they tell you it’s a 4 day job and get it done in one expect to pay for all 4 days. Now the inspector had to come back for they needed to add a blender valve so water temp is no higher than 120. No communication on when this takes place. Next communication was a email saying if you don’t pay balance due now we are taking you to collections. They did apologize and said we will install the blender and have an inspector come back. Job is done and we paid them in full but really wish I could have gave them a 5 star review on the work done.
D & F Plumbing will always be on my short list of people to call when I have plumbing needs. Evan and his team of professionals came out and replaced my water heater, fixed a plumbing mistake made by my builder, and even told me about a problem that my water pressure was way too high. This can lead to many plumbing issues in the future. So I was able to call the water utility and have them come out and fix it.
This not only saves me time, frustration, and money in the future, but it gives me confidence that D & F is doing things the right way.
Also, my appointment was scheduled for 8:00 am. They showed up on time and ready to work. By 10:00 am, all work was completed. Your mileage may vary, but this was a very positive experience for me. Thank you Evan and D & F Plumbing for your efficiency and professionalism!
James was on time, clearly experienced and professional. He unclogged the drain and gave advice. Happy with his service. On the other hand, I had asked the company to send someone who could fix my faucet also, but the person answering the phone didn’t understand my request and so the plumber dispatched didn’t have the right tols to work on the faucet. Which means I’d need to have a second visit at $119 minimum if I wanted my faucet worked on.
It was $450 to get my pipe unclogged. About 30 minutes of work.
I contacted D&F because of water in our crawlspace. They responded the same day and had someone out on the following day to determine if there was a water or sewer leak, using sonar equipment. There was none and they provided a sump pump installation estimate. There were discounts for a first customer and a senior citizen. The next day, the pump was installed and successfully tested. Now, with rain pouring outside my hillside home, I am relieved that any groundwater will be managed by my new pump. Phil and Javy, the installers, were professional, courteous, and efficient. The bid was far below one obtained from a rival company. So…for timeliness, quality, and value, D&F is A-1 in my opinion.
Hey, would you like to spend $1,800 on having a plumber work for one hour to replace a sink and two valves? Then D&F Plumbing is for you.
Like a lot of people, we were in a bind after the big freeze we had in late December 2022, and after we turned the water back on — our kitchen sink had clogged hot and cold taps.
We had Randy from D&F come out to look at it, and they got us in quicker than any other plumber we called. After assessing the situation for about thirty minutes and discussing with me all the options, he recommended replacing the fixture and the valves. The fixture was something that I could pick up at Ace for $90. The valves were about $10 each. After about forty minutes, he had the work done. He explained everything in great detail and was very kind, helpful and professional.
Most plumbers in this town that I’ve called charge around $120 an hour (plus parts). If he’d have charged twice that — even three times that — I’d gladly give D&F 5 stars. But this was TEN TIMES what anyone might expect to pay for this kind of thing. Do not call these people. They will take advantage of you. Use them only as a last resort, and maybe not even then.
