Andy thoroughly explained how the job would be handled and what to expect should things be worse than a single pipe failure. As this is something I’ve never dealt with before, I had a million questions and Andy had no qualms answering each one. Within an hour, he emailed two quotes – a “best case” and “worst case” with a full breakdown of what each entailed. Thanks to Andy, I felt reassured and comfortable with the project and estimated timeline for repair. As for the work, Arty and his team member were absolutely incredible. Efficient, professional, and personable. Despite no plumbing schematics being available, Arty was able to quickly find a starting point that didn’t involve unnecessary concrete removal. Throughout the process, they kept me updated on what they found and what their next steps were. They even gave me a heads up before starting the jackhammer so I could put on hearing protection which was SUPER appreciated. The repair took all of 3 days. It’s one thing to just come in and fix a semi-major plumbing problem. What made A-1 shine bright were the personalities of each individual involved in the planning and follow-through. I was given a 4 hour window of time to expect a technician to do the work but the window passed and they were unable to get to us that day. I was then given a 4 hour window for the next day. No one came during that time but I did receive 2 phone calls saying they were waiting on a technician to become available. 2 hours after the promised time a technician finally arrived. Ben was courteous, professional, and efficient and took the time to explain my options. He left his business card and gave me the option to call him directly on a company phone for work I am considering doing in the future. We had electrical work done last week to have outlets aligned in the kitchen awaiting new cabinets. We were told they needed to be rewired. The tech did a nice job cutting open the areas. The space was rewired and he left apparently not checking to make sure the electrical was working and all the lights. We discovered the kitchen lights not working and a few others along with a socket.
So we called Michael and Son again stating everything had been working prior with no issues. Today Sat May 14, another tech came out and after pulling some sockets out, checking circuits etc he said it was all connected to the problem but he was unable to find the wire causing the problem. He said it would be best if the original tech came back out. He told me he was going outside and would call his boss to reschedule for Tues. I asked him if he was frustrated he said yes a little bit and didn’t like coming in behind someone else. (I can understand that but thats not our problem) Isn’t an electrician supposed to be able to diagnose and repair.
Well I was waiting inside for about 15 mins thinking surely he wouldn’t still be on the phone, and, he wasn’t …..HE LEFT. Not only did he leave me hanging but left all the sockets dangling, left our ladder under the attic door failing to turn off attic light and closing the hatch. Upon leaving the property he drove through the front yard leaving about a 6″ tire rut.
We called Michael and Son and was told they have no supervisors working on the weekend. I told the young lady I needed to speak to one today, not next week, and the only one they had was a call center supervisor. I sent her all the photos explained what happened and she apologized numerous times. I told her I wanted to speak with a higher up but all she could do was email someone. About an hour and a half later the tech called me and asked what’s going on. I told him you left all the sockets hanging, attic light on and open and you drove through the front yard. He asked what do I want him to do (really)??
He said I left the sockets hanging to make it easier for the original tech. What kind of electrician does that?
I said you also drove through my yard he replied Oh I’m sorry.
I tried to call the corporate number but it kicks back to the local M&S with the voice prompts. I left an email saying I wanted to speak with an owner and I’m waiting till next week to see if that happens however I won’t hold my breath.
Unprofessional in every way shape and form. And lack of Supervisors is mind boggling. Michael and Sons is extremely over priced to begin with so we’ll see how this gets resolved. The yard WILL get fixed but that the tech didn’t even let us know he drove through it is sad as well.
On a good note the tech came back and fixed the hanging sockets and he did apologize. It’s not that the techs who did the work aren’t polite because they are, they are very polite!
But that doesn’t correct the problem. The photos show how the job was left and the damage to our yard.
I was very happy with the service today. The lady who took my service call last night was very helpful. The technician who came out today was Moe and he was very nice and helpful. I have an older home with just one bathroom and they were able to get things scheduled quickly. Moe was very knowledgeable after checking all the drains he explained a couple of options to me, explained the pricing and what would be done with each and was able to answer all my questions and help schedule the repair option I chose for later this afternoon. Moe understood the urgency of getting this taken care of today and worked to get that set up for me. I have used Michael and sons in the past and I highly recommend them.
This afternoon the other technician came out to snake the vent on my roof. His name was Dave and he was able to come out even earlier then scheduled. He was very professional and polite. He has a lot of knowledge about plumbing. He was able to solve the problem quickly and everything is working great now! The company has the technician call you ahead of time and they send a text message with a picture and a little write up about the technician so you know who’s coming to your home. As I said in my earlier review this is a great company very professional very helpful when you call in and I highly highly recommend them! Big thanks to Moe and Dave today great work much appreciated!!
I am incredibly impressed! My pleasant surprise began with reaching a human in the evening. They were able to schedule me the next morning, on a Saturday! Thomas was a literal angel. He called before he came, arrived at precisely the beginning of the window, calculated multiple estimates for different possible ways to repair the problem, cleaned and repaired the drains and faucet, and ended up doing my repair for less than I would ever have thought possible. The visit was incredibly fast and efficient and my sink works better than it ever has before! Thomas is a stellar technician!
Amazing company! I highly recommend! We had a pipe burst last night and I called and they dispatched Mr. Andrew out to our home and he was able to repair the pipe in a quick, timely and professional manner. My pipe cracked all the way to the spout for my hose. Mr. Andrew tried to salvage my spout, but it was too cracked and needs replacing, I declined the spout replacement as it would have been an additional charge, and he was upfront about it which I highly appreciated. We decided that capping that section of pipe would be for the best as I don’t need my hose here in the middle of winter. When I want to have my spout replaced I will definitely call these folks as they are just simply amazing. While the cost might seem to be a bit high, you’re not only just paying for their time and parts, you’re paying for professionalism and technical skill to make sure that when your problem is fixed, it is FIXED. On top of that, their 24/7 availability was a life saver as my busted pipe was a major leak and if I had to wait until morning my water bill would be way worse than what this is.
If you’re reading this. Please consider them as your go to for plumbing repair! I couldn’t be more satisfied!
Very professional communication and service from making an appointment to my technician Haywood coming out to my house. Had a 250v receptacle converted to a 120 GFCI. Haywood followed all safety practices and verified and secured power before proceeding with the installation. Took all around 30 minutes. He even had a spare faceplate to provide for me as I forgot to pick one up. I’ll definitely be contacting Michael & Son’s for my future home improvement needs.
