What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. We bought a box of Gudrun Belgium chocolate yesterday. This morning when I opened up the box and found that 9 pieces of chocolate were missing, out of 36. Where we live does not have a Costco store, and no one at the store answered my call. This store doesn’t do a good job of keeping thieves’ hand off their merchandise and doesn’t check their product’s integrity well either. Buyers, especially non local buyers beware!

  2. This Costco is highly trafficked but always stocked and clean. The lines are long but the staff is usually helping to direct customers and there are fast cashiers that are accommodating. Occasionally, they run out of rotisserie chickens but you can always depend on the food court up front. There are good deals on electronics that are competitive with online and other big box stores.

If you’re coming to this Costco today for cheeses, etc you might want to skip this Costco because that refrigerated section has broken down! I tried to discuss with an employee who was happy to explain that the refrigerators had failed, but he didn’t count on pushback from a customer who asked for an explanation, because Costco has none other than “oh well, things break down!” See, Costco doesn’t maintain them so they don’t break down, not part of their philosophy, they wait until they do!
…and for some reason a multi-billion dollar business can never seem to have all of its registers open, so…long lines!

9 Aug 2022. This Costco had no ROTISSERIE CHICKEN! I asked the butcher/cook why that was and he replied “the deliveries didn’t show up!” I can see where principally that’s out of the control of the store, but not having a backup plan isn’t! I also asked the butcher if the store gave an explanation for him to give to customers when they ask “why no chicken” and he said “no they didn’t talk to us.” In other words COSTCO I-10/UTSA BLVD ISN’T CONCERNED WITH GIVING CUSTOMERS ANY EXPLANATION!
While I was waiting in line at the register there was an employee walking around asking customers to go to the self check register and They, including myself, weren’t even willing to abandon their position in line at one of the only 2 out of 10 registers open. Somehow it escaped this employee’s ability to understand that instead waisting time informing customers about something they can discern on their own he could have OPENED ANOTHER REGISTER TO HELP THEM!
Either these COSTCO EMPLOYEES can’t think on their feet or the management model is so poorly structured as well as employees poorly trained that this is the best you can get for your $120/year membership!

Thee most degrading experience by far!
I don’t understand why I need to constantly verify who I am and my card. It’s extremely discriminatory and it discourages me from shopping with this company ever again!
I refused to show my card. I asked them to verify who I am with the gentleman in customer service who just verified me and gave me a new card. The guy in red vest refused to ask him. Said he’s above him and it didn’t matter what he said.I stood there humiliated as I paid regardless but he said either way it wouldn’t allow the transaction to go through. So I stood there embarrassing as I called from my phone to get the attention of the kind gentleman I’m customer service to help me. At that point I only wanted to speak to him. They all refused to call him. Until finally they passed the transaction and let me wait there until the young lady decided to tell me just to push done with transaction and my receipt popped out. They couldn’t just do that to begin with. Never have I ever been so humiliated and degraded buying one simple piece of meat. Never again. I expected more from a high end wholesale grocer. I give 0 star. Customer service keeps customers. Loyalty goes both ways. Loyalty all these years for in one second they lost my respect and my business! Choose better management

  5. All good except … I just discovered they have a policy to take away food from the grill section that passed two hours and even though I understand very well that this is following food safety to prevent food poisoning and liability , a customer once wanted ribeyes that was just removed a minute ago and the man refused to give it it to him although it was just one minute difference I don’t think one minute would create an issue . Second I wonder where all that food goes I hope not to trash because that will be a huge waste . Makes me think what type of a consumer society we are being , throwing away goods while other people are starving. Please Costco be considerate and don’t waste food , if products aren’t sold within 2 hours range then perhaps u are cooking a quantity that is more than required . I don’t like to be a customer of a wasteful place. There is enough supply to feed the world if we stop wasting so much.

Costco definitely runs a tight ship. Went on Saturday at peak time, and despite the high amount of people shopping, it was fast and efficient. I think the toughest part was finding parking, but even that wasn’t as tough as some trips to smaller supermarkets on a Saturday afternoon after payday. The products also looked fresh and very good quality for the price (even taking into account that that’s the whole thing with costco).

You’re going to need a membership card for entry unless you only get prescriptions filled. But seriously, the samples are better than at the other club membership outlet. Best to check out what’s at your location through the mobile app. Even so, sometimes a surprise shows up such as a variety of a snack item that is literally unavailable anywhere else.

Parking is a nightmare and enough of a reason to not renew membership. Great products, sales and prices but you better be certain about what you purchase and know that no food item is rotten because the return line is insane and way too slow. I once purchased corn on the cob and once home, it was rotten on the back side which was down next to the packaging. I was unable to return them due to the extremely long return line. In addition, I wonder why so many products are being returned. I also did not appreciate being accosted upon checkout to increase my membership. It was based on my purchase amount and the cashier signaled the salesman. What a terrible practice. I verified it with the cashier because I knew she had to have provided information because of the information he provided and was using in his sales pitch. This was not a good feeling. It was very condescending and not the right time to be trying to sell me on a more expensive membership. If I say no I’m not interested, that should be it. For these reasons, I have not renewed our membership.

Update/ We did leave and go to Sam’s since no carts were available and Sam’s had so many available .

Not handicapped accessible not a single electronic cart . They said they didn’t have enough after walking through store I saw not. A single person in one . Costco needs more my poor mother had to wait outside sitting down because she is currently in a boot.

The store is clean, well-stocked, and the staff is friendly, with reasonable prices. The only drawback is the high level of business, making it challenging to find parking, especially during early weekday mornings.

*COSTCO OPTICAL* They have been amazing to us!!! I go to my eye doctor in another place, but the glasses and lenses GO CHECK THEM OUT, prices are huge difference. They have different options, Gucci, Cartier, Tori Burch, Prada, E. Zegna, Carolina Herrera, Oakley and others.

Ms. Candi and Mr. Antonio are funny, respectful, customer service driven and willing to help you…..they are keepers. They helped my elder mom and that’s why I came back, we were in and out within 30 min.

For example, it depends of the glasses you choose and the insurance you have, my doctor was charging only for lenses (no frame) with insurance $370, at Costco $125, you make the math. Also,my kiddos glasses at doctor’s office with Insurance $180 for one pair of glasses, Costco 2 pairs of glasses $150.

Costco has a lot to choose from with great deals. I would say that they carry more household items than food/snacks. Food selection is still good. Pics just one item I picked up recently that they had for a good deal.

Love their rotisserie chicken for $4.99. I buy at least two a week and you can’t beat the buck and a half hot dog and drink at the food stand. Would have given them a five-star if it hadn’t been every time I go to check out they now tell me I have to go and have my picture taken to be put on my membership card but there’s always a lineup at the membership desk

Costco in San Antonio TX: Do’s and Don’ts Every Shopper Should Know

Shopping at Costco can be a great way to save money and stock up on essential items. However, there are a few rules and guidelines to keep in mind to ensure a smooth and efficient shopping experience. Here are some dos and don’ts to follow while shopping at Costco:

  • Do: Make a shopping list: Costco is known for its wide variety of products, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the options. Before heading to the store, create a list of the items you need to avoid unnecessary purchases.
  • Do: Bring reusable bags: Costco encourages customers to use their own bags to reduce plastic waste. Bringing your own reusable bags not only helps the environment but also makes it easier to carry and pack your purchases.
  • Do: Check the unit price: While Costco offers great deals, it’s important to compare the prices per unit or ounce with other retailers. Sometimes, smaller packages might be more cost-effective elsewhere. Costco typically provides the unit price on the price tag, making it easy to compare and make an informed decision.
  • Do: Take advantage of samples: Costco often offers free samples of various products in-store. Feel free to try them out, as they can help you discover new favorites or make informed decisions about your purchases.
  • Do: Consider the bulk quantity: Buying in bulk can save you money in the long run, but it’s essential to consider if you can consume or utilize the entire quantity before it expires. Only stock up on items that you know you will use within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Don’t: Forget your membership card: A Costco membership is required to shop at the warehouse. Always remember to bring your membership card or use the Costco app on your smartphone to access the store and make purchases.
  • Don’t: Rush through the aisles: Costco is known for its spacious warehouses and vast selection of products. Take your time to browse through the aisles and compare prices and options before making a decision.
  • Don’t: Overbuy perishable items: While buying in bulk is cost-effective, be cautious when purchasing perishable items like fruits, vegetables, or dairy products. Ensure that you can consume them before they spoil to minimize waste.
  • Don’t: Ignore the return policy: Costco has a generous return policy that allows customers to return most items with a receipt for a full refund. Familiarize yourself with the return policy in case you need to make any returns or exchanges.
