What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. It’s nice to see Walmart reopened. Everything now (as of 20 April, 2023) looks different from the last time I went.

My condolences goes to the ones we lost on the day of the shooting and to the families as well.

  2. This Walmart location, its employees, and the community experienced a terrible tragedy. Afterward, the location was closed for several months and remodeled, which was needed even before this event occurred. I love that they included a memorial for all of the employees who lost their lives here.

The remodel is nice and definitely gave this Walmart an update. The branding on the walls and visual display areas are fantastic. There has been an increase in the number of self checkout areas that are nicely spaced. They even have marked areas on the floor for a suggestion of where to put your cart to make self check out easier. The one thing I didn’t like was how the clothing areas are set up. There were a lot of small, closed in sections, making it feel like a maze. The inclusion of a “grab & go” area at the front, almost like a convenience store, is another nice touch.

  3. I shop here because it’s location is convenient for me. They have great prices on a large variety of items. I would not shop here alone after dark. Some employees here seem unhappy and bothered if you ask for help. I love the self check out option at this store. If I go thru a person cashier, I may get a hello, and rarely ever get a thank you.

I’m updating my review from 5 years ago. Leaving my initial review in tact. I’ll first say it’s sad that it took a tragedy to turn this store into a better workplace and shopping experience. Peace and healing to all the families affected. I’m updating from 3 to 5 stars. I found the reopened store to be clean, stocked, easy to shop, and friendlier than before. The open ceiling, displays, and taller aisles give it a modern look. It also feels much safer to shop at any hour. I did see they have a patrolling police officer in the store along with surveillance cameras everywhere. I still can find all my daily essentials or needs here. The whole front end is primarily self check out now. There’s only about 6 regular manned registers. When I checked out at self check out, there was only one register with a cashier open, and there was no one in that line. I prefer the self check out. There’s also about 4 self check outs catering to Walmart+ customers. At this time, you can find an eye center, Wood Forrest Bank, and a money center. I hope they will continue to expand to have restaurants such as Subway come to this location. I also like the idea of their “grab and go” area at the front entrance.

  4. This Walmart was one of the largest Walmarts I have ever visited. Inspired of it’s size, it was clean, stocked well, had lots of shoppers, friendly associates, and relatively quick checking out. Access and parking was impressive considering the numbers it can accommodate.

  5. I went to Walmart today and needed the last box of diapers at the very top where I couldn’t reach. I asked an employee named Raven to help me and she was several isles away from me. She went above and beyond to help my daughter and I. She had to climb, wedge, and basically contort herself to get this box of diapers and was happy to do it! I was so thankful for her help today 🙂 thanks again Raven!!!

Here are some tips to maximize your shopping experience at Walmart Supercenter in Chesapeake VA:

  1. Plan ahead: Make a shopping list of the items you need before heading to the store. This will help you stay focused and save time.
  2. Check store hours: Verify the store’s opening and closing times to ensure you have enough time for your shopping trip.
  3. Avoid peak hours: If possible, try to shop during non-peak hours to avoid crowds and long lines. Early mornings or weekdays tend to be less busy.

  6. Explore store departments: Walmart Supercenters offer a wide range of products. Take the time to explore different departments to discover deals and find everything on your list.
  7. Look for clearance items: Check the clearance sections in various departments for discounted items. You might find great deals on products you need.

  9. Bring reusable bags: Consider bringing your own reusable shopping bags to reduce waste and help the environment.
  10. Stay updated on promotions: Keep an eye out for weekly ads, online promotions, and special events at Walmart Supercenter to take advantage of additional savings.

Early mornings are fine. The door people and check out monitors are fine. The floor workers are often hard to find. Their attitudes vary considerably. Seems to mostly be well stocked but I generally go before 9am

An optical shop w/great prices… and my kids will like the styles too! Don’t forget to use your insurance… they are taking over 200 new plans… including my mama’s HUMANA insurance and my Eyemed.

Every night I go in at 1030 and people at the front want to stop me and tell me “we’re closed”…. CHANGE YOUR HOURS ON THE DOOR THEN… Cause it says 11… Not start early so your lazy a$$ can try and get out the door at 11!!

I always have a good experience there. However, one of the cashiers was new there and needed far more training and I didn’t feel she had the support of her team. They just put her on the register with very little to no training. Not her fault, however management needs to be nearby and give longer and better training.

Absolutely horrible management, mistreating employees and customers. An elderly customer in a wheelchair could not wheel herself into a restroom and a young employee went to help her. On returning, the employee was chewed out and reported for leaving the general area she’d been assigned to. Another employee was chewed out and reported for being absent from work WHEN SHE WAS AT THE HOSPITAL. Management is supposed to prioritize caring for workers and customers. Nobody should have to work anywhere so toxic that employees have to go against management just to treat customers with human dignity, and then get in trouble for it. Absolutely disgusting. The employees, however, were very sweet and helpful, genuinely care about customers and take care of each other. I love interacting with them because they are such genuinely pleasant people. I wish them luck, both in that nasty environment and wherever better they wind up. They deserve it.

Kinda hard to buy and spend money when something is in a case and no one around to open it. Genius idea, Walmart.

This store and the store on College drive are absolutely horrible. Don’t put paint on sale or clearance and the tell me y’all don’t mix paint anymore. College Dr Walmarts machine is down. Instead of just having a responsible manager and place a sign on the counter that says…we don’t mix paint because we don’t feel like replacing the machines that are broke! I would respect that more. Then we called the store at Chesapeake Sq. They said they do it. Get here and they now claim their machines are broke. Just put a darn sign up at the counter or get rid of the paint department. Just stupid.

I placed an order that was delayed and I decided to pick up the next day. I called in to let them know I’m here because the app doesn’t have spots listed past 7. I called them an hour ago and everyone who arrived with me has been long gone. I’ve been sitting here waiting for now an hour to get my food and when I call they say it will be out shortly. I’ve waited patiently understanding that it’s the holidays and it’s going to be busy. But if everyone is getting helped and Ive been calling and calling and nothing is happening this is why you get a 1 star review. I’m never coming back to this Walmart . People are still getting helped that came after me as I type this. This is messed up.

Walmart employees continue to harass people as if they’re doing something and they’re not. This employee is watching and following a female around maybe because she has a bookbag with her while shopping. Maybe because of her shades. It’s ridiculous to continue to do this all throughout the various Walmart locations. You Walmart employees are suspicious of the wrong people. Just because they’re on a aisle for awhile or whatever reason you have.
